ABC's of Cleaning-Part 1

Proverbs 14:1   Every  wise   woman   buildeth  her  house:  but the  foolish  plucketh it  down  with her  hands. Some of you may keep a better house than I do, some of you may keep a worse house than I do.  Just look around your house right now and *judge* for yourself......I'm too busy to do it for everybody.  If you are blessed with a husband that works every day and you keep house, then do it RIGHT.  He's gone for 10? hours a day, what do you do with those 10 hours when he's gone?  Is the house a friendly inviting place for him to come home to?  You say you're a stay at home mom...... be the best you can be. I'm going to go through the alphabet and use it as a guide to my thinking.  I've been working for years to find my 6 kids things to do.  I'm not surprised that things just keep flowing that-a-way from me. *A* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Always put things back where they belong.  For...

Laundry.......you may as well smile.

I like to do laundry. I like the different things you can buy........and sniff......and spray and spritz!! I like clothes pins.  I like bleach. I like 2 in 1 soap/softener........just like shampoo! I like dryer sheets. Especially those that come in purple glittery shiny boxes. I like to gather laundry. I like to sort it. I have a jean load. A white load. A dark dress load. The MOST fun load is the random load. It will have doilies, sweaters, table cloths, curtains, dresser scarves, sheets, pillowcases, aprons, and fabric pieces. That is a load I *love* to hang on the rack or out back on the line. I love that load. I like to hang things on the line. I like to use the racks inside the washroom. I have been very blessed with a very nice washroom. It is missing a door to the back yard.....I have to go out the front door to get to the back yard....I guess I can't have a washroom AND a door to the back yard from the washroom.  I have a nice folding table, lots of room f...

my days

choco flan a present from a friend this cake is scrumptious just a cute picture I saw at my favorite thrift store finally, some colorful leaves probably the only three in our area but after this last cold snap,,,,,,,maybe more will turn bubbles in the dishwater

taking notes

I write things down as I think of them.....things that need to be done......kinda like a grocery list, except this is more 'get stuff done' oriented. If I have it written down to where I won't forget it, then I can go on to other things when they come up. Like they always do. Our house has been turned upsidedown for almost 6 weeks. Yes, it was worth it, but now I have no excuse to get things cleaned up and in order. These are the things I need to get done before Saturday evening: laundry......well duh. I don't even know why I wrote that on the list........it is like micromanaging your life to write down laundry. whatamigonna do? forget to do it or something? ceiling fans.......all of the fans need a damp rag and attention, I'm not looking forward to this job because the stuff gets in your eyes and hair whilst cleaning. why?why?why? don't I keep them dusted often, then it wouldn't get caked on? desk........avalanche, glacier, snowballed, snowed unde...

no dishwasher?

We won't have a dishwasher for lots of reasons. One of the reasons is NOT to make the girls work harder and keep them up to their elbows in suds. One of the reasons is NOT because we ran out of money. We haven't even shook Daniel upsidedown yet for pocket change. One of the reasons we are not getting a dishwasher isn't because we didn't have a place to put one. It would have gone right where the other one was. There ARE lots of reasons we are not getting a dishwasher. I didn't want one, and nobody said too much about it. There were some flurries, but no storms. I think dishwashers ruin things in the kitchen, dishes and work ethic. Daughters and moms are supposed to do dishes with each other. I can remember doing dishes with my mom. My sister and I always dried, she washed. She split the dishes up, one of us did first half, another did the second half. The second half would be pots and pans and could be harder........but if you did the second half, you w...

Good Morning!

Put on a pretty dress and have a good day. Pray for others..........try not to whine.............don't eat too much.............get your laundry done............call somebody you love..........do something crafty.............clean out a drawer.............draw a frog mowing the lawn or a rabbit on a tree swing. SEE, there's always something to do! (If you wear a dress such as this, you MUST wear a top under it and a very good slip.)

#1 of Mo-Monday

I hung out some clothes in the glorious breeze. I repotted the 'mums' somebody gave me. I've never had any. I hope I don't kill them from neglect or fussing over them. I dusted my bedside dresser. I put my smoochy rabbits and my violet coffee cup here so I could look at them. I also fixed the shelf up in our bathroom. It is a neat old thing!

#2 of Mo-Monday

We ate bread Kimberly made.......... I cleaned out some gardens and pulled the sad cantaloupe plant........I put it out of its misery. I have a hole in my finger thanks to a rose-thorn.

Mo-Monday #3

Pretty leaves I found after I trimmed my rose bushes. Picking fruit...........for guacamole. I did Lydia's school. Right before bed, the girls and I watched the Beatrix Potter movie. I had read her biography and had forgotten most of it evidently because I was not prepared for what happened. I can recommend this movie.

Surrounded By Cement

We have been surrounded by cement for a majority of our married life. This means that our children have also been surrounded by the same thing. We have never lived on a farm, by a farm, or anything like a farm. We don't have a 2 acre garden, we don't raise llamas, we don't build fences for cattle and we don't have barb wire fences that need attention. We've never had chickens that needed a hen-house or a goat that needed a shed. The closest we've come to having 'animals' has been two bunnies in our back yard. And yes, when we had them, Daniel took care of them. So, what do you do with boys that are not in an environment that causes them to run in flowery meadows with collie dogs, dig holes for fences or paint boats? You FIND things for them to do. It is always nice to know that your sons can do dishes, cook a little bit and maybe even do some laundry........but this is NOT their realm. It will not be their role when they grow up, so while those t...

A disservice to your daughters............

Don't hinder your daughters? How? By doing everything for them. Why? Because they're so busy with their things, you think you ought to. I have 4 daughters and one mother and lots of friends, lost and saved. Many watch us and wonder why I do the things I do. I do lots on purpose, some is by accident and it turns out for the best, but lots of things I am working out a plan. My plan is to have my 4 daughters totally equipped to take care of a home, a house, living quarters, whatever. And yes, I know that isn't the only thing they need to know about being married, but it is a good start. Ever since I can remember with my daughters, these are some of the things I have done and put into practice, all for an end.......NOT just so I can have spare time........ do not iron their clothes unless they are so young there is a fear of burning themselves start them out on handkerchiefs, then skirts, then their own stuff, then dad's shirts if you iron for them when they're c...

I guess I'm not so 'bloggy' after all!

OR, maybe it's just that I am so many other things? I love to sew. I have been cutting out lots of things and on purpose not sewing them. I will sew them up later. I have proven to myself that if I cut something out, I will get around to finishing it! Friday night I sewed Lydia two dresses. One was denim with red on the other side with white dots! (actually a jumper) She wore it with a yellow t-shirt to the family reunion on Saturday. The other one was a sleeved dress from some really old fabric I found somewhere. It is pink gingham with flowers on the bottom that resemble an old pillowcase....the top is hard to explain. Olivia said it was the cutest dress she has ever seen in her whole life! Wow. I cut out Heather's dress she will wear to her sister's wedding. I am at a glitch but I think I can overcome. I cut out a size six dress lastnight........the fabric has old dolls on it. I am really going to snazz up the sleeves on this one. I cut out a mother/daught...

I can still see my mom.........

using a paper towel she was fixing to throw away, wipe off ONE more thing in the kitchen. The top of the stove, a canister, or something!!!!! My mom wasted very little. She was recycling before it was even in the dictionary. She especially didn’t waste sunshine! Even after we got a dryer, she still hung most things outside. She also brought the clothespins in knowing that leaving them out would cause them to not last as long. Do you need a little plastic bowl with a nice lid? Ask my mom for one. She’ll have just the right size. Now people like her could be called a packrat, but I never saw my mom need a container for leftovers……….she might buy those fancy little Rubbermaid containers at the store now….but somehow I can’t see her doing it. Not being a ‘waster’ is Biblical. Proverbs 18:9 He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster. A waster is compared to he that is slothful in his work. We all know what a trial it is t...

Baby Blankets

This, to you, might look like a pile of old blankets that ought to be freecycled or something. Get rid of them. You don't need them anymore. Well, they're not in my way and I do have room for them so I won't get rid of them. They are the blankets I used on my babies. They are gifts from people, they are favorites from garage sales and they bring back lots of memories. I was a blanket mama. My babies always had a blanket around them. If it was warm out, then the blanket was thin. See the brown checked one? I bought that when Caleb was little and before Olivia was born. It was a nice perfect square, just right for making a good tight fit around a baby. The green and yellow one at the end was Calebs....he had a little white outfit that went with it. The one on the top in the middle was from a family that had more kids then we did. They taught me how to use clippers on a boy's head for a burr haircut, they showed us Rod and Staff school books, they gave me a n...
