My Cottage Dream

Ahhh, a screened in porch.  Perfect for potted plants and snoozing on a day-bed. What a dreamy blue......... Pillows, pillows, and more pillows. And a fan. It's hot on the porch, but the bugs can't get to us. The sun shining down the hall makes me remember I need to sweep. I wonder if the stairs creak? If I'm dreaming, I may as well have stripey curtains. Gotta fluff up the pillows. It's not exactly time for bed though. Look at the pretty chairs! It almost makes me want to bring them into the front-room! since I'm dreaming I must already be sleeping but can you imagine how this bed would feel? !! A room for my mother. She loves olive green. How about a spool bed while we're at it? and a squiggly bedspread? actually.............I just might not be dreaming after all........... can you hear the screen-door slam? One can't get in a door with a watermelon and not slam a door. Painted benches.  They're more fun than chairs.

sunshine and rain

The longer the rainstorm, the happier you are to see the sun.

Happy Birthday Kansas

Kansas has fancy bathrooms out in the middle of nowhere. Here is a perfect example. This is the first house I remember. There was one house between us and Granny. Pete and Billie lived there........he dropped change in his driveway so we could find it. Aunt Sharon's Farm. This is where I walked in fields of cows, played on haystacks, swam in irrigation ditches and made mudpies on the porch.  It was a glorious porch. Amber waves of grain. Well, piles anyway. The yellow swing on a walnut tree branch. My dad's tools. and no, he's not a surgeon he's a *wagon maker* Mr. Monkey is in the porch of my mom and dad's house. He's getting quite old. Don't you love my hair? (I'm on the right) Kansas was *just fine* for me for many years. I was very happy there. There was always plenty of wind. Just so you will know, the next time I go, I'm stealing this from my sister. I want it in MY yard. Beautiful Kansas. It's where I

Just for tonight............

Backward, turn backward, O TIME, in your flight, Make me a child again just for tonight!

Good Nature

(this is the fizzy we made one day for a Redwall Feast......October Ale) Good nature is one of the sweetest gifts of Providence. Like the pure sunshine, it gladdens, enlivens, and cheers. In the midst of hate, revenge, sorrow and despair, how glorious are its effects.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I'm going to go smell the stuff I have on the line. I'll be right back. (this didn't all happen in one day)
