The Night

The night will never stay, The night will still go by, Though with a million stars You pin it to the sky; though you bind it with the blowing wind and buckle it with the moon, The night will slip away Like sorrow or a tune.

Gardening

Gardening, or the cultivation of fruits and flowers, may, in some sort, be regarded as the test of civilization. It diffuses peace, contentment and happiness, stimulates and invigorates the mental and physical powers, promotes habits of industry and domestic frugality among the humbler classes, and places within their reach a large amount of luxury in the shape of delicious fruits and magnificent flowers.

coffee

There was a song years ago in a grade school song book that was about coffee. My cousin was a year younger than I, and she sang it. I didn't learn all of the words.......just some of them. That was when I was about 10? c-o-f-f-e-e coffee is NOT a drink for me it's a drink some people wake up with That's all I can remember. Well, I do wake up with coffee. I love to drink it in the mornings. And in the afternoon....and evening. I like it after dessert, and before. I'll have a cup of coffee before breakfast. Then I'll get some while I'm eating breakfast. I will drink coffee while I pull weeds..........this drives my poor kids crazy. I'd rather have a cold coffee than a soda pop if we're out fiddling around. We got a new coffee-maker. I love it. For years, I have been looking for a maker where you could keep the lid open and WATCH the hot water spritz on top of the grounds. This one is just perfect! The top opens up sideways and one can view the process. I l

soup book

I guess I wouldn't expect to find such a thought as I did in a library book about soup. I think the best place to find quotes must NOT be from quote books. "Until lions have their own historians, tales of the hunt will always glorify the hunter." Handy isn't it? To tell a story about something, and the object of the story is now a rug or a wall decoration. It is a true thing........ if you only have one side of a story, then you don't have the whole story. I can't think of a time when it's good to make decisions and silly statements.... when you only have part of the truth. It's a handy thing to look like a brave mighty hunter because you KNOW that nobody will ever know how much you ran and how scared you were. Stretch the truth and it becomes a lie, and those that were not there for the hunt, will never know. Things mounted to a wall............ or people that don't get a chance to speak........... have something to say, too. Ephesians 5

gloom and doom

Depression is boring, I think, and I would do better to make some soup and light up the cave. If you feel the darkness of depression and gloom come upon you, get up and do something. If it's dark in your house, make it bright. If there is an empty tummy, make it full. Do something for somebody. It always makes you feel better.

Peace

Proverbs 3:17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. Psalm 4:8 I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety. 1 Peter 3:10-11 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.

Nave's Topical Bible

I have gotten rid of quite a few of my books in these past few years.  I feel I no longer need reference books. It's not that I have quit looking things up or learning, there's just another way to go about it these days. It is too easy to get on the internet and *google* things I need to know and want to find out. products health issues music people clothing crafts recipes how-to books news and a million more things I got this Nave's Topical Bible yesterday for a dime. Sometimes I have a word or name or place in my head, and I just need to find where it is in the Bible. I think this is one book I will not get rid of. So many things in our lives we have to plug in or have a battery to make them work.   It's just nice to have something in your hand sometimes that doesn't glow or beep or ring. I teach the girls age 2-12 on Sunday mornings. I don't use flannel-graph or material from a publisher. Last week we talked about Obadiah and being a Delightful Daug

Patience

What do you suppose this dog is thinking? Is he hoping his master will buy him some curly fries? Or does he wish he was in a *cool* vehicle, for a land barge van certainly is NOT.

Prison?

Stone walls do not a prison make, Nor iron bars a cage.........

control yourself

If your neighbor's hens are troublesome, And steal across the way, Don't let your angry passions rise, But fix a place for them to lay.

A Favorite Author

http://raindropsonroses96.blogspot.com/2011/02/in-memory-of.html I started reading his books years and years ago.  2 out of 6 of my kids loved him, too. You will find them in the Science Fiction part of book stores and libraries....but it is NOT weird stuff. http://rabbittrails59.blogspot.com/2007/03/redwall-feast.html

A little song.......

I put a tune to this old little poem. I'm sorry I'm not there with you to sing it. All the notes look like whole notes, but they're not.

http://heritageacreshomestead.blogspot.com/2011/02/dance-of-mamie.html Long, long ago, I joined a child-raising board/group.  I met many women and enjoyed the back and forthing of topics and issues with all of them. Then blogging came along. Then I got overhwhelmed. So many blogs, so little time. When I started getting into the world of blogging myself and reading others, I stuck with this *farm* lady There are so many out there that would appeal to who each one of us are. Well, this is one of my favorites. I almost, almost, almost got to meet her in person. We were so close I could almost smell the clothes on her line. Hope you all enjoy the post she just put up about their goat and girl  !!
