I can still see my mom.........

using a paper towel she was fixing to throw away, wipe off ONE more thing in the kitchen. The top of the stove, a canister, or something!!!!! My mom wasted very little. She was recycling before it was even in the dictionary. She especially didn’t waste sunshine! Even after we got a dryer, she still hung most things outside. She also brought the clothespins in knowing that leaving them out would cause them to not last as long. Do you need a little plastic bowl with a nice lid? Ask my mom for one. She’ll have just the right size. Now people like her could be called a packrat, but I never saw my mom need a container for leftovers……….she might buy those fancy little Rubbermaid containers at the store now….but somehow I can’t see her doing it. Not being a ‘waster’ is Biblical. Proverbs 18:9 He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster. A waster is compared to he that is slothful in his work. We all know what a trial it is t

Lydia's Hair

Lydia has really thick hair. She has enough hair for 5 other people. It is super hard to brush the rats out of. I wonder where I was when she did THIS? No! No! Lydia!

The Hat

It might be a little big and might fly off if it got windy........actually he doesn't dare walk out of the house with it on, or move from the spot where he found the hat!!!!

My Son

If you're too busy to smile, you're too busy.

One Day On A Bus

One day in front of our house, a bus stopped and we all got on. Then we decided we didn't want to go to school after all. So we got off. The end.

My Favorite Zinnia

I can't wait for my flowers to start growing. When this particular color comes to my garden, it sure makes me happy!

Radishes are good for dieters.

For Suzie

Is this the kind of diet you're on or not? Let me know.

TESTING

This is just a test. The brownies are real but you can't have any. This is just a test.

Radish............

http://www.ferry-morse.com/product_view.asp?id=1357 I just planted these in my Birthday Garden!!!! The Birthday Garden is by the fence, made of cinder blocks, and full of worms and good dirt. Caleb bought me the cinder blocks for my birthday a couple years back. Radishes are like little presents out of the ground.

One of My Favorite Recipes.....it's EASY

English Muffin Bread 5 cups flour/divided 2 pkg yeast (1/4 oz each) 1 tablespoon sugar 2 teaspoons salt 1/4 teaspoon baking soda 2 cups warm milk 1/2 cup warm water cornmeal combine 2 cups flour...yeast...sugar...salt....baking soda add warm milk and water beat on low speed for 30 seconds scrape bowl occasionally beat on high for 3 minutes stir in remaining flour batter will be stiff DO NOT KNEAD if you knead this, it will be shiny instead of rough grease two loaf pans sprinkle the inside of pans with cornmeal spoon batter evenly into the two pans sprinkle cornmeal on top cover and let rise until doubled.......about 45 minutes? (I heat up a cup of water in the microwave.....take it out really fast...close the door and put the pans in there for the needed warmth to rise) bake at 375 for about 35 minutes the bread should be golden brown THIS BREAD IS YUMMY TOASTED

Baby Blankets

This, to you, might look like a pile of old blankets that ought to be freecycled or something. Get rid of them. You don't need them anymore. Well, they're not in my way and I do have room for them so I won't get rid of them. They are the blankets I used on my babies. They are gifts from people, they are favorites from garage sales and they bring back lots of memories. I was a blanket mama. My babies always had a blanket around them. If it was warm out, then the blanket was thin. See the brown checked one? I bought that when Caleb was little and before Olivia was born. It was a nice perfect square, just right for making a good tight fit around a baby. The green and yellow one at the end was Calebs....he had a little white outfit that went with it. The one on the top in the middle was from a family that had more kids then we did. They taught me how to use clippers on a boy's head for a burr haircut, they showed us Rod and Staff school books, they gave me a n

To answer a question.............

I'm going to put short quotes to answer the question that arose about the book I am reading. I said it talked about divorce becoming easy and popular in the 20's to the 40's............ Daily Life in the United States 1920-1940 much courtship had taken place in the home according to well defined customs men could, of course, decline to call, but if they did proceed they ventured into the woman's environment "dating" began to replace calling early in the 20th century cities offered greater possibilities outside the home courting couples began going on dates lovers lane entered the vocabulary dates cost money men gained control over the choice of partner and the entire process dating soon ceased to be just a search for a mate it became a primary means for casual social entertainment the more numerous and varied the dates and the higher the standing of the person's dated, the higher one's status dating brought with it freer attitudes...... dating expose

5 Littles

This was before Lydia...........we took a school outing one day to different places in Freeport. The girl with the hat can now play Fur Elise on the piano with her eyes closed. The girl in pink has three kids, two of them being twins. She keeps her home neat and tidy. The girl in the blue t-shirt writes articles for popular Christian women web sites. She also makes cheese cakes that weigh 8 pounds. The boy in the white top finished a model of the Titanic for a friend........and now has a display in our library of all the Titanic things he has collected. He LOVES his riding lawn-mower. The kid in orange is buying a house on 1st street here in our little town. He leads singing at our church and teaches the boys upstairs on Sunday mornings. He also has quite a collection of ties. We enjoyed our little kids, but big kids are great, too.!!!!

Twenty some years ago.........

This was Sara when she was little. Notice her slippers. I guess I have liked bunnies for some twenty years........at least.

Something Worse Than White Bread

The ingredients in white bread could sound like characters in a science-fiction horror movie. What is all that stuff? It can’t be good for you. Azodicarbonamide, calcium stearoyl lactylate…… And we eat the stuff all the time. But, there’s something worse than white bread. It is the bread of idleness. That should be feared above anything white bread can do to us. Idle: i·dled, i·dling, noun –adjective 1. not working or active; unemployed; doing nothing: idle workers. 2. not spent or filled with activity: idle hours. 3. not in use or operation; not kept busy: idle machinery. 4. habitually doing nothing or avoiding work; lazy. 5. of no real worth, importance, or significance: idle talk. 6. having no basis or reason; baseless; groundless: idle fears. 7. frivolous; vain: idle plea

New Old Magazines

One of these days I'm going to blog something really weighty like global warming, or when I used to be a police-woman, or my ship building days....but until then, here are some fun magazines I am going to look at tonight with Heather when she comes over.
