Rabbit Trails

I love to find hot pad doilies like this.  I like to look at them and think of who may have made them.......and who taught them how to crochet?  I never learned to read a pattern.....but I sure do appreciate those who can.  The handkerchief has silky looking embroidered flowers.....I DO know how to do the satin stitch!  What have you *found* lately?

It will buy a neat old enamel tray.  I don't know for sure where it will end up, but it was in perfect condition. It has holes at the top, so I can hang it on the wall if I feel like it.  I doubt I will feel like it though. It will buy a little Science book.  I love fact books.  Just the facts. Just the facts.  I will use it next year for Lydia's schooling.  If you buy books like this, and you don't like what is in them, as in evolution or something like that, just tear the page out.  I do it all the time. It will also buy a puffy kitten.  She's on the front room window sill right now.  I just couldn't leave her at the store.......even though she was among good company.

  These are two of the things I found at thrift stores in Houston on our anniversary.  Both are black, both are plain.  I didn't try either one of them on, but both fit when I got home.   The dress will need some fixing, there are slits up both sides.  It will be easy..........then it will be ready for a fun top. It won't be used by itself or as a *jumper*.   I like the jacket dress look and hope to find some tops that will work with it. The top is just a good old black top to wear with dress skirts. I haven't had a chance to wear it yet since I've missed so much church being sick. Black slims. That's another reason I got them both.

This looked like a piece of fabric folded up.........but then it turned into a giant scarf. A little bit of Summer! We have two other ones we use all the time. It was $2.00 !! I am excited for warm weather. It's just around the corner.

I didn't take a very good picture of this.......but it's actually an old apron. See the pocket? It evidently had a band? tie? that went through the waist........I just put a curtain rod in it.........doesn't it JUST GO SO WELL with my purple wall? And why do they call it Spray and Wash when it is more like a stick deoderant?

I hardly ever go to e-bay, but I did the other day to look at 'vintage' kitchen canisters. I LOVE the silver ones with the copper lids..........and lots of others. I didn't know they actually made canisters out of CHROME! After looking at them on e-bay, I informed my family that I was going to go to my favorite thrift store and buy a set. I didn't get any the actual day of my announcement, but soon after that I did! These 4 came to $3.75. They were not sitting together so I didn't think when I picked up the 'sugar' that I was going to get the whole set. It was like looking for Easter Eggs..........only you usually don't have to PAY when you find the eggs. This isn't exactly the color I was looking for, but it will do for my new kitchen. Actually, a robin egg blue would have been perfect............ I was wondering the other day.......what IS it that attracts us to old things? Why do we just like to have things like this in our home?
