Daniel's Day

First trip without mom or dad! He took Lydia to Salvation Army thrift store to buy a ukulele! Trying out his new phone. Just like Johnny Carino's..............

For Aunt Gladys

This is an Aunt Gladys pitcher. Everytime I see one, I think of Aunt Gladys.........she always had dishes like this. She also crochets doilies. She also had a little kid chair with the same 'formica?' as these things are on. It looked like a table, then you pushed on the middle, and there was a chair to plunk a little kid into. I'm sure it would be outlawed now cause it would pinch fingers and hand kids from their elbows. If you ever need somebody to play Scrabble with you, my Aunt Gladys will!!! She is the best sport I know. I won two games in a row one time (when they lived in Seward) and she just grinned. Didn't even flinch or try to throw something at me. I'm sorry for all of you that did not have an Aunt Gladys. She was the one that said YOU'RE GOING TO NICKLE AND DIME ME TO DEATH. I would stay a week with them in the summer and have a glorious time. I love you Aunt Gladys.

Italy

This is my newest bunny. Its name is Italy. It's kind of a strange bunny, green eyes and all, but now he's mine! He is not pettable.

Blue Winter

Don't you just love winter skies?

Daniel

His name really isn't Daniel, it's James. We will never do that again, name a kid something we don't call him, or call a kid something we didn't name him. James Daniel was born on this day 18 years ago. He weighed 10 pounds 2 ounces. He was born in Dallas and my midwife was Barbara Cook. The best midwife in the world. I'm trying to think of one word to describe Daniel and the only thing that comes to mind is DRIVEN. Now, on top being driven for 18 years, he can now drive alone. Yes, we waited a while to let him get his license, no harm was done.........but that's all over now. He will go to TDOT this morning with his dad and get what he's been waiting for, for a long time. It's a pretty nice thing to have a kid that is excited about something like that for his birthday as opposed to what most kids want to do when they turn 18. It has been a great 18 years having Daniel as our son. I'll really miss him when he moves next door...........

in case you wanted to know....

this is what bananas look like when they grow.........

Merry Christmas Eve

Just in case your ' day ' is not making you smile, this might.......

The card you didn't get..........

We took pictures for cards, but they never got sent. It wasn't that we were all moving around or something like that........ they just didn't get sent. That's all.

Lovely Lilac

Somebody donated some linens to my favorite thrift store. I got this on Monday and got even more yesterday. Doilies, old kitchen towels, embroidered cloths and a Texas table cloth. I even got a towel with a radish embroidered on it! It needs a hem.......it will be fun to fix it up. Our eating table is too big for most of the table cloths I find, I just have them all folded up on an old chair with a rabbit on top........(this is what our back yard looks like in the middle of December)

just a thought

EVERYBODY BRINGS SOMETHING TO A FIRE. WOOD OR WATER.

A truthful dentist...........

Our pediatrician's last name was Stork, that was fine,,,,,,,,,but I think if I had this last name, I would find a different profession........or change my last name. Or something!

Presents

Most of the nice things I get at this time of the year are opened before the 25th. Jelly-Bean purses.......stripey thread. I would have never guessed what the package was with the coin purses........but the thread was all wrapped individually........and it was still a surprise! You'd think I woulda figured it out. I like presents that last a long time. I'm going to put garage sale change in the big jelly-bean purse.

Who said this?

I know the look of an apple that is roasting and sizzling on the hearth on a winter's evening and I know the comfort that comes of eating it hot. Mark Twain H.W. Longfellow Benjamin Franklin

a funny thought.........

I thought of the FlyLady the whole time I was working in my back yard and fixing up my sinks..................

Lydia in the tree picture.........

a week without Daniel and Kim

can you hear the ocean or perking? making much needed brownies a new Butterfly Lake on the Big Sandy 3 new beautiful dresses...............they're all size 10 so she is going to have to wear white in the winter...................

good morning everbody

I love leaf pictures. This is on the east side of the house..........we used to have glorious leaves in the back yard...........but the neighbor cut down all of their trees. Today is my dad's birthday. I don't remember his birthdays when I still lived at home with them. Evidently we didn't make a very big deal out of his day. I kinda wish I were in Kansas............I could at least watch The Price Is Right with him or something. And go eat a hamburger at the cafe by their house. And look in the little trailer he's fixing up. He gave me the blue sink out of the trailer. It's neat and tiny. If you ever need a sink, I probably have one for you. My dad doesn't like sweets. He likes fried pork chops. With a piece of white bread. My mom bought him some flannel sheets for his birthday. It's cold in Kansas. My dad used to give me neat rocks for my birthday. sigh.

The Big Sandy

we have a pile of really nice sand on the East side of the house Lydia plays in it........ she built a river, a waterfall, pond, tunnel sometimes I wish we lived by a river but we have the ocean right? so why am I wishing for a little water when we already have quite enough
