Hot Diggety Dog

I don't know what made us do it. It just happened. We decided to do a hot dog a week this summer. I'm all about easy. I can do this.   We did *Carolina* for the first one. It included chili, slaw, onions. The slaw was terrible, so the hot dog wasn't that great. I wouldn't do this one again. We had these on a Sunday. With company. But it was family, so if they didn't like them, sorry. Sorry I'm not sorry.     ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The second one was the *Cowboy*. I had James grill the hot dogs. I think I bought some with jalapeno peppers in them.  This recipe called for M.J. cheese, fried bacon pieces, onions and mushrooms. All fried in Worcestershire sauce.    When I think of cowboys, I don't think of mushrooms. When I think of mushrooms, I don't think about cowboys.    I thought they would be good on these *cowboy* plates. We ate these by ourselves. ...

Eating Out

We went out to eat with Uncle Jeremy and Aunt Theresa a month or so ago. Since they asked US, they had to choose the place. Should be easy, right? You're hungry.  You have $$.  Go eat. Not so. We went to a place where we could look out the window into the parking lot.  A guy and his wife drove up in a truck and never got out. It was apparent that they were NOT getting along. Dinner and a show, right? They were there for quite a while, obviously arguing. Us four decided that one of them didn't want to eat at Riverpoint. They eventually left. Fine, we'll go home and eat a bowl of cereal.   Well, we do eat out as often as we can. No, we don't eat out every night. It's fun, and sometimes cheaper than going to Dillard's. Except sometimes, it's hard to pick where you want to end up.     I figure, with all the resources and energy put into just choosing a place to eat.... we could put a fence up around Tex...

My Laptop Is Fixed

Corn on the Cob tutorial First you buy corn on the cob, only at this time of year though. Don't buy it unless it's in season. If you do, you'll pay too much and get too little.     Clean it all up, and wrap in wax paper. Sort of like a burrito.      Microwave it for about 3 minutes each. Or until it's so hot that you drop on the floor, when you take it out.   Don't just put plain butter on it. Use mayo, or sour cream. And lemon pepper. Don't just use salt. There's more out there. There.  Now you can make the perfect corn on the cob, without heating up your kitchen.

Jambalaya

If you like green peppers, lots of hot spices, rice, shrimp, chicken, sausage and onions, canned tomatoes (you can hardly taste them) and celery.....all mixed together, then you like Jambalaya.  I listened to the song about Jambalaya growing up.....never knowing it was something you could actually make and eat, even if you didn't live in Louisiana.    I did the recipe right. Sometimes I don't.    It has a rather sick color to it, but it was really good.    David and Kimberly helped us eat it. And lived to tell about it.      I shouldn't have started the year out so lofty. I should have made grilled peanut butter and jelly....that way anything I made after that would somehow be better. Thank you Pinterest for the recipe. This coming week I'm making crunch wraps, just like Taco Bell. Well, maybe not JUST like Taco Bell. There won't be any tomatoes on the ones I make.  ...

The Diner and a Small Spelling Test

Nob Hill is a place on Highway 66 in ABQ where shopping is easy, everything good for a walker. This furniture place had old fashion lawn chairs, as you can see.  Fun colors, too.  What you can't see is the sign they had telling the price of the chairs.  I don't remember the prices, even if they were giving them away, we couldn't have taken one.  I do remember this........the sign said: MEDAL Chairs.  Wow.  If I had a store on Highway 66 in ABQ, I would be sure to spell metal right. This is a famous diner on 66.  The little things you see between the reddish lights are PEZ candy holders.  I am not a fan of those things, but it was kind of neat to see the sets they had. I got liver and onions.  I wanted to get something different.  It was very good.  How many of *you* would order liver and onions? I cropped Marilyn Monroe out of the picture...... So my husband orders this $8 banana split with four spoons. ...

Winter Party 2012

We have our tree outside this year.   It's perfectly shaped and free.   Next year we will need a ladder to put lights on it.   I got this little glass tree at a sale down the street. There could be a sale in DECEMBER because it was 80 and Spring-like out. I like crystal and glass decorations. It snowed right in our doorway. It's the kind that will last all season. It's also the kind that won't melt when it's 80 out. Before the party.............. We first had a devotion about the Proverbs 31 Woman and what we should REALLY want this time of year. It IS the *most wonderful time of the year* any time you are obedient to what the Lord wants from you as a woman. We had a candle exchange........ we all brought one concealed in wrapping paper and  went home with a different one! Then we ate. And ate. The food was ALL very party like. Just perfect. It was so good to be with our wo...
