David and Kimberly Came to Visit

They didn't have a super duper long time to be here.... but they came, anyway.   They got here around 4 on Thursday.....and we started right in to start supper. It was nice to have somebody stir everything.   I sorta taught Kimberly how to make chicken and dumplings. If she didn't *get* it, David did....      It was a perfect night for chicken and dumplings. I make it during the hot months, but last night was freezy-breezy, and that made it better.        We played Mexican Train. Haven't played it for quite some time, so some of the things to be remembered, were not remembered. Like, don't get caught holding the double blank.      As if we didn't have enough to eat for supper, we also had 7 layer dip. But who's counting? I'm not sure how many layers it had, but it was good.      I didn't win, but I had fun. We talked about games. And memori...

Good-Bye Uncle Buddy

Today was Uncle Buddy's funeral. I don't remember when I first met him. I can't say I knew him all that well. But being around people today,  that DID know him well, was just pretty special. I knew he was a giver. But I didn't know to what extent until today. I heard stories about him today, that I've not even come close to knowing in others. He was so well liked at a certain restaurant, that when the Christmas tree was put up, with employee pictures on ornaments, there was one of Uncle Buddy, too. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Everybody in the place, had they been asked, would have their own story about how Uncle Buddy, at one time or another, helped them in some way. (we could have named many things, easily) It's almost as if he LISTENED... to what people said, and WATCHED..... what people did.... so he could turn around and help with what was hurting or needed attention. I understand, ...

The Wedding

Left for San Marcos AGAIN on Friday night. This time, for real. This was it. What we had been waiting for. The 25th.    Went to their apartment in New B. for a bit, then went to Whataburger, then to the motel.   When we were eating, a ballerina and an angel came in..... playing dress up since it was so close to Halloween. I told Kimberly she should stand by this pretty staircase in the morning for a picture.  She said NO. Then we both remembered nobody thought much about the angel and the ballerina . Nobody would think anything about a bride standing by a staircase. She still wouldn't do it.      So, this is the way the motel informs people of what happens when they take things out of the room. They charge your credit card. derrrrrr The pillow *might* be worth it, but the coffee maker and hair dryer would not be a good deal. I think it's funny how they worded this so nice to a bunch of thieves...

Kimberlina

Knock Knock Who's there? Twin Mattress Klarisa and I left on Sunday evening after all day services to go get Kimberly. From San Marcos. We got there late, ate, and stayed up late.     We loaded her stuff up in the truck, then went to their apartment to do a few last minute things before we took her back to Freeport for the week.      Guess who got an apartment on the third floor? Guess who carries just one load of stuff up  to that apartment?    Ate at Denny's. If you haven't had red velvet pancake puppies..... get some. 10 of them, at least.    Just a few things for her kitchen..... the beloved glass pitcher, her cupcake picture....and the pig jar.      Good-bye for the week, David. Yes David, we will bring her back. As planned.      Shower on Tuesday.....this is Kimberly's favorite dessert. It's the jello-cream cheese-s...

To Kansas

On our way to South Dakota, we stopped to see my parents. It's a long drive.......we don't mind it though. I love the red Mountain Dew....it tastes good and helps keep me awake. Actually, it keeps me awake all night. Even when it's OK to sleep. So this is what I looked at. The bottom of the top bunk. I don't like bunk beds. Just sayin. When we're in Seward, we stay in a *Hunting Lodge*..... it's really just a house that a hunter bought.... and if it's not duck or pheasant season, we can stay there. That's about the extent of my care for hunting seasons.....        I still find it kind of funny to see *towers* in the middle of fields.  They seem to be as necessary as wheat.    This was about the extent of Autumn in Central Kansas.      This house is behind my mom and dad's house. Loretta, an old lady that used to run the liquor store, used to live here. Then my friend, R...
