I Resolute.....tomorrow.......

(if you can't read the picture.....click on it and it will enlarge)    This is why I don't really like New Year's Resolutions..... it's kind of like waiting to do things right. I'm just gonna do what I want for a couple of months or so, then on January 1st I'll straighten up. It won't usually happen. How serious can you be about the very important things if you are willing to wait a month, a week, or a day to get it right? When the Lord speaks to you about something in your life that needs attention, do you really think He wants you to wait until the   *NEW YEAR*   What happens if you should happen to know something needs to be changed in your life....say, in April? Shall we all wait until January 1 to make those changes?   There's nothing wrong with taking stock, examining our hearts, lives, actions.....having goals.... there's just something wrong with seeing a change that needs to be made,,,,,a...

2004

Ten years ago today, we had a white Christmas. It started snowing on Christmas Eve , and it was wonderful. A few of the kids stayed out in it for a really long time, in their pathetic *winter* coats. They wanted to enjoy every minute of it. It just kept snowing, and snowing, and snowing. Being from Kansas, I know that snow can be very different. It can come in a blizzard that stings your face at 30 m.p.h...... it can sort of just spit snow, it can come down kind of crumbly and dry, and it can come in huge flakes, all stuck together, that make snowballs. Snowball snow. That was the best kind of snow. That's the kind the   *Snow of 2004* was. The whole McEntire family was at PaPa and Granny's that year. There were piles of grandkids  running in and out all day. I'll never forget that Christmas.  And I'm sure we'll NEVER  have another one quite like it. For many reasons. Kids grow up, and it o...

The Day Before Winter

So, today is the last day of Autumn. It comes late here. So late sometimes, I wonder if it ever will come.    I love the color of the duplex across from us. It always looks so stylish during this time of year. The orange zinnias are pretty nice, too.    This little twig of a tree is in my Spider Tree Garden. It has put on its own little color show just for me. It wasn't affected by the plague going on in the back yard. It missed the black and moldy whatever that is covering everything that doesn't MOVE in the back yard.    You'd think that after 25+ years that I would be used to the way things are down here. Christmas and Autumn can happen the same week....... and this is when you pick citrus fruit from your trees.   I bought this lemon at a thrift store. For a quarter. It grew somewhere here in Brazoria county.... ****recently**** I'd love to see the tree it came from. I b...

The Love of God

Somebody asked me the other day what my favorite hymn was. Right now, I think it's this one. Yes, it changes. It might tomorrow..... At least there are a lot to choose from... one for every reason, and every season of life. The love of God is greater far Than tongue or pen can ever tell; It goes beyond the highest star, And reaches to the lowest hell; The guilty pair, bowed down with care, God gave His Son to win; His erring child He reconciled, And pardoned from his sin.   Refrain: Oh, love of God, how rich and pure! How measureless and strong! It shall forevermore endure— The saints’ and angels’ song.   Could we with ink the ocean fill, And were the skies of parchment made, Were every stalk on earth a quill, And every man a scribe by trade; To write the love of God above Would drain the ocean dry; Nor could the scroll contain the whole, Though stretched from sky to sky.

Star Registry

REALLY? (go here) Name A Star     REALLY?   This place lets you name a star, for the Autumn price of $54. If you're in a hurry, you can get it for $33. It can be viewed with Google Sky. On the site, you can see recently named stars. It's even touted to be the  #1 gift for 2014.   (ask ME what the #1 gift for 2014 is)   This is wrong on so many levels. First of all, who owns the stars? Who has the right to sell them, and to name them? If you don't own it, you can't sell it.     I'm POSITIVE that stars are one of those things, that you can enjoy, without owning them. Just go outside, look up, for free.    Unlike a purple  Dodge Charger.     For me, I'd have to own this to enjoy it. I'm pretty sure. It's fun to look at, but I'd rather drive it and stuff.   But stars? They're all mine. And they're all name...

4th of December

I just happened to look in a little book..... and I saw that the day we picked up a little big eared dog, from Nancy Wilson, was December 4th.   It was a freezing cold day, and wet. We got her home and needed to name her. I like Dorothy, and call her Dot. Because she was so little.   We named her Bunny. Yes. I know what a bunny is, and I know what a dog is.   I've owned a few rabbits, and I love rabbits.... so Bunny was the perfect name.      I read this book when I was little. This little pup called Bitsy kept growing bigger and bigger. Bunny never really did. What fit her 4 years ago, would fit her now.    She loves to sleep on the furniture. She loves it when somebody is sick on the couch. She will be right next to you all day long. She is a true lap dog. She can hear me open a package of *anything* from the far reaches of the house.   She lives for the day somebody ...

Wordless Wednesday

I keep adding things.....

If you open our front door closet, you will see a menu from Catfish O-Harlie's....a picture of a screen door and some Snoopy wrapping paper.  I like to see things, so I tape them to walls.  I restrain from doing it in every room of our house, but some get it with both barrels.  This is now Bunny's Room.  It used to be the Sewing Room, before that, it was the Office, before that, it was a porch.  This calendar has been up since, well, 2,009.  I wonder what kept me from turning it over to March.  Maybe because I liked the pictures of the chicks?  Millie was over the day I did the *wall*.  It is pretty random, but it feels sort of like a quilt.  Pictures of the kids, a stroller I love, Alisa all in pink, puppies in socks, a kitten in a milk bath, tulips, a snowy scene, a cottage, a craft I'd like to do some day, Holly Hobby, a verse, three little girls, Lydia in the *dress*, a tea-cup, an M card, my blood donation I.D. card tha...
