New Back Yard Deco

Our new little bird and skillet............. These are the spouts? off of the old sink in our back bathroom. James bought new ones, actually they look old, so he did real good! Our newest birdhouse.

Don't Fall Down and Go Boom

See those steps? Those are the steps that I used to think were almost too high to climb. This is my Granny's old house. It is colorless now, but inside it used to be filled with color. My granny had to love color......I realize that now. I did not know it when I was little. Every time we left her house, she said......"don't fall down and go boom!" This house is on what we all called the 'bypass'. When I was little, we lived in a house just one down from her. I will take you for a tour. To the right of the house was her driveway. In it used to be parked an old brown car. It was kind of round. I'm sure it would be some kind of a collector's item today. I remember she had an old Plymouth.....the kind that had push buttons to shift. Right in front of the steps by the sidewalk (which you cannot see) there used to be a yellow rose-bush. It was kind of a waterfall type and grew right where you had to walk to get into the house. How I would love ...

My Garden Rock

Do you see the green plant? That is my new weed. They are everywhere........I didn't have them until last year........and of course this year. They pull up easily after it rains.......but there're EVERYWHERE.

Nasturtium

Did you know they taste like pepper? They easily reseed themselves and I LOVE their round leaves.

Wild Iris

This iris came from a ditch on Gargoyle Road (Old River Road)(4 or 5 years back).............I don't care for this color of purple and they grow really tall and fall over.......but hey! they're blooming!!!!!

My 'White Kleenex' Iris

I love these!

Good Morning

I have almost as many 'pink' bonnets as 'blue' bonnets in my yard. One of my favorite things to do is mosey through the yard and see what is coming up, going to seed, blooming and other things flowers (and weeds) do. Come see me..............and my getting bigger every day radishes, my peas blooming, plantain growing in the rocks, new zinnias coming up, white irises, patches of allysum, roses blooming, Zephyr sleeping in the bird bath, avocados sprouting?, multi-colored nasturtiums, discarded bird seed growing, cilantro going to seed, my 5' high irises with NO blooms.........and my weeds. Sorry Charlie and a new weed that I've had for two years. This is a great time of year.

Proverbs 21/ Being a Good Friend

I'm not always the friend I should be. Maybe this will help you as it did me. I was reading Proverbs 21 this morning and I saw many verses that directly or indirectly deal with friendships........here are a few I thought on: 2. Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts. We always think we are right. But it is in our own eyes. That doesn't make it right. If there is an issue that has come up between you and a friend, try to see it as God sees it, not as your flesh does. We will always favor ourselves, that is what brings trouble. If we favored our friend, there would be no issues. 3. To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice. We need to do right so we don't have to apologize. I used to teach this to my Sunday morning Sunday School girls. Do right and you have nothing to be sorry for. Choose the right way and there is no need for apologies. Don't bring things into your life that you are going t...

Redwall Feast

So! We finally did it. We finally bought all of the ingredients to have a feast just like the Redwallers! We have read the books for years and have always enjoyed the parts about eating, so we checked out the official Redwall Cookbook, made a menu, then a grocery list........then we fixed and baked all morning on Saturday. We ate promptly at two! This was our menu: Mushroom Pasties, Deeper-n-Ever Beetroot Pie, Dibbun's Delight, Shrimp Hot Root soup, Apple snow, hare's Paw Spring Vegetable Soup, Crispy Cheese and Onion Bread, October Ale, Loamhedge Legacy Nut Bread, Nunny Molers. I was Lavender the hare mom, James was Lord Winchester Fenwick, Olivia was Marrisa the mousemaid, Daniel was Tango the otter, Kim was Melody the mole and Lydia was Daffodil.......just a Dibbun! I made her a special dress. It had a secret pocket that was supposed to be for the candied nuts,,,,,,,,but as you see they turned out rather sticky and we didn't think it was a good thing to put i...
