Autumn~what's not to love?

I could expand by sharing that autumn in the high desert means temps in the high 80's-low 90's, not using the air conditioner in the car or home, and trips to the mountains for apples!

One of my favorite autumn memories was just after hubby and I decided we were not cut out for pastoring in a 'brick and mortar' church. We moved with our three children into a 400 sq. ft summer cottage at the end of summer. We lived there through a gloriously beautiful autumn (and winter). I had finally begun homeschooling and the kids and I would walk for blocks admiring the fall colours and the autumn displays in our new neighbourhood. My kids never knew how poor we were; how their dad had to find a job pronto, how we fretted we might not be accepted by HSLDA that year, how we had no money for school supplies or food or just about anything. It was a very happy autumn for us as we 'made do' and the kids thrived in the whole experience. Autumn always brings back the memories we made the autumn of 1990.

When you live in MY neighborhood, Autumn is cool weather, yellow birch leaves falling like rain with a breeze, switching out summer car gear for winter stuff (like tires, snow brush, emergency cold weather gear), trying to wash your car one more time, getting the hoses drained and put away, and keep the snow shovel handy...we shoveled our way off the porch yesterday...about 1-2 inches.

I normally love autumn and I am enjoying seeing the subtle changes in the air already. We went to the ocean last week and it was amazing to see how the seasons affect even the ocean, too. The fish were visible everywhere, just jumping around like they were daring people to catch them. For some reason I am not ready for summer to go away this year... it was too short for me. :((

Hello my friend.
My all-time most favoritest of seasons is Autumn. I love the changing of leaves, the crisp air, the smells... I love pumpkins and hay and yellow, orange, brown, and brick reds. I love it that my birthday is in my most favorite time. I love the coziness the home brings during the fall. I love the the whole blessed season.
Beautiful apron, as always!
Much love,
Chas

My daughter Autumn WAS born on the first day of Autumn (by some calendars) I had hoped for a girl and already had picked out a name and it was a glorious Autumn dawning day when she was born. From Kristi

Autumn is that wonderful time of the year when summer projects are winding up and new indoor projects are beginning. The house always smells inviting because some tasty delight is almost always baking or simmering to perfection. The mornings are chilly and the afternoons are warm. I love autumn.

Autumn isn't here yet, but I can see the promise of it..
Autumn in Texas is NOT a time for buying Pumpkins, sweaters, or apple cider. It IS a time for giving thanks for our extra summer, though!

My Favorite Child

I wish I had all the pictures I wanted, to go with this blog post........because I know a *picture paints a thousand words*, but for a large part of our family's life, old fashion cameras and old fashion pictures were being used.  So, many of the pictures that would help paint this post are somewhere in boxes and books.  It would take a month of Sundays to find them all so  I will just have to count on your imagination and my memory! FAVORITE: most liked, preferred above all others Sara, you were my favorite.  You were our first baby and we were so excited for you.  Your hair was perfect for me to learn how to braid and you always were very still for me.  You were the first little girl I got to dress up and put lacy socks on.  You were such a fun little girl to read to.  You memorized the books we had and it was a big part of our day to read with each other.  *where is the bear when the wind blows cold?*.    You have alw...
