One of my favorite things !!

Lydia and I used to play Yahtzee ALL the time....time passed and we kind of left it off.
I got a zip-loc baggie with score cards and dice for a quarter at my favorite thrift store, so we started it up again.  Games are a good way to help your kids learn how to count and add.  It's also just a nice way to spend time with them.
I remember playing Yahtzee with my mom on our old kitchen table.  It was (still is) fleck black and yellow, which made it dizzily blinding to look at when you were playing.  The dice bounced on that table like popping popcorn.  We made a lot of noise I'm sure.
What games do you play?
What games did you play with your mom or dad?
Or cousins?
Or friends?

Games "R" Us! Gary & I enjoy playing Upwords. We also have a game called Split which we occasionally play and we DO play Yahtzee, too.

We play several card games when we visit my parents or have more people over...7's, Canadian Salad, and sometimes Rook (although we haven't played that for a long time).

Our grandkids played a lot of Stay Alive the last time they were here.

We also have a "dice & penny) game and 2 other games that use only dice. One, we call "pig"; the other is a game of bluff - don't know the name...

I remember playing a dice game in the 17 foot trailer we used to live in....with two kids.
Dice and elbows. That's all we had room for!

Growing up my mom was a single mom who worked three jobs but yet she always managed to find time to play a game of yahtzee. We have the game here but don't play it too often. Not sure why. Maybe because we're always playing Skip-bo.

My Favorite Child

I wish I had all the pictures I wanted, to go with this blog post........because I know a *picture paints a thousand words*, but for a large part of our family's life, old fashion cameras and old fashion pictures were being used.  So, many of the pictures that would help paint this post are somewhere in boxes and books.  It would take a month of Sundays to find them all so  I will just have to count on your imagination and my memory! FAVORITE: most liked, preferred above all others Sara, you were my favorite.  You were our first baby and we were so excited for you.  Your hair was perfect for me to learn how to braid and you always were very still for me.  You were the first little girl I got to dress up and put lacy socks on.  You were such a fun little girl to read to.  You memorized the books we had and it was a big part of our day to read with each other.  *where is the bear when the wind blows cold?*.    You have always been interested in the *family tree*, dates, p
