My Own Version....

I read a little poem/story a long time ago.  I don't know where it is, so I will write my own version.

One of these days you might wish your kids would stop slamming the screen door.  And they will.

One of these days you might wish your kids would stop taking drinks out of the jug of milk.  And they will.

One of these days you might wish your kids would stop drawing outlandish things on the driveway with sidewalk chalk.  And they will.

They eat your special pudding.
They chew your gum.
They lose your pencil sharpeners.
They leave candy wrappers in the frontroom.
They get grass in the newly vacuumed car.
They won't kill their own bugs.
They want pets and won't feed them.
They don't like the clothes you pick out for them.
They drink more pop than water.
They don't know how to sweep and they cannot be taught.
They break frames and the glass in hallway pictures.
They have a stomach ache when it's time to do dishes.
Then they're fine when they're done.
They won't eat beets and they spill gravy on the table cloth.
They talk loud and they talk for long times.
They get up too early or they get up too late.

One of these days you will want them to stop doing all of these things.  (Not necessarily all in the same day.)

You wish they would stop.
And they do.

Then, look at you....
You love to hear them talk all the time-
You ASK them if they want some pudding-
You tell them that screen doors were made to slam-
You offer them pop....and wish you could kill their bugs-
.....and give them gum.......
but they're gone.

Phil would still allow me to kill his bugs, if they are spiders.

My Favorite Child

I wish I had all the pictures I wanted, to go with this blog post........because I know a *picture paints a thousand words*, but for a large part of our family's life, old fashion cameras and old fashion pictures were being used.  So, many of the pictures that would help paint this post are somewhere in boxes and books.  It would take a month of Sundays to find them all so  I will just have to count on your imagination and my memory! FAVORITE: most liked, preferred above all others Sara, you were my favorite.  You were our first baby and we were so excited for you.  Your hair was perfect for me to learn how to braid and you always were very still for me.  You were the first little girl I got to dress up and put lacy socks on.  You were such a fun little girl to read to.  You memorized the books we had and it was a big part of our day to read with each other.  *where is the bear when the wind blows cold?*.    You have always been interested in the *family tree*, dates, p
