A post from Lydia............

As you all pretty much know I had two birds Java and Chai... On Sunday I looked in their nesting place and Chai was laying in there, dead. :( I was pretty upset. Me and mom burried her by Millie's grave. I miss her terribly. I think Java did too. He hardly ever sang. This picture was when I first saw them. It was in Christmas 06 I think. I was SOOOOOooo exited!
Here is a picture of me, Java, and Chai. Java is on the left and Chai is on the right. This is about fifteen minutes after I got them. When I first got them, they had already named Java. I liked the name, and so we thought up of Chai... Well, actually I think Olivia thought of the name... Hehe!!!:)

Soooo... When we got grocries yesterday, we went to Pet-co. ( where the pets go!!:)) They didn't have any Society Finches, but they had Zebra Finches. I thought that if you mixed a male Society Finch and a female ZERBRA Finch that there might be trouble.... But the manerger said that it would be OK. So I picked the most colorful one. And we names her Latte'. Now Java sings like he did when Chai was alive. Now at least I know he's not lonely anymore... Well, even before we got Latte', he had company... But I don't think is was the kind of company he wanted... I mean, what bird would want a CAT for company???????
I MISS YOU CHAI!!!!!!!

Oh Lydia,

I'm so sorry....I know from experience that it's always so heartbreaking when we lose our furry (or in this case feathery) family members.

I'm glad you got Java a new friend so he won't be lonely. I've never had birds before but yours are so pretty!

I am sorry aboutyour little Chai. You are missing him, I am sure. I am happy that Java is singing again, though! When I was young I had two African finches, Billy and Boo. They were good companions and very pretty. Blessings to you, Peggy

Society and Zebra finches have a definite different song.
The Zebra finch beeps. The Society finch twitters.

(from Lydia)Thanks everybody for your comments, we enjoyed looking at *your* blogs!
Your 1st name is one of my favourite girl's names :o)

I know from experience that it is always sad losing a pet and although I have never owned birds, I have lost a pet that was very loved very much as yours was.

I'm glad to hear that Java has company now!

Oh Lydia! I remember seeing the picture of you when you first saw your new pet birds... back when you got them. I've lost more than one pet, I know it's sad. I've had cockatiels and parakeets. I know they get really attached to each other.

Oh, I just loved the picture of your birds. I'm sure Chai was a most wonderful pet. It made me smile when you said that Java was singing again. That's so sweet. He must have missed Chai terribly.

I'm so glad you were able to get another bird and that Java has another mate.

My Favorite Child

I wish I had all the pictures I wanted, to go with this blog post........because I know a *picture paints a thousand words*, but for a large part of our family's life, old fashion cameras and old fashion pictures were being used.  So, many of the pictures that would help paint this post are somewhere in boxes and books.  It would take a month of Sundays to find them all so  I will just have to count on your imagination and my memory! FAVORITE: most liked, preferred above all others Sara, you were my favorite.  You were our first baby and we were so excited for you.  Your hair was perfect for me to learn how to braid and you always were very still for me.  You were the first little girl I got to dress up and put lacy socks on.  You were such a fun little girl to read to.  You memorized the books we had and it was a big part of our day to read with each other.  *where is the bear when the wind blows cold?*.    You have always been interested in the *family tree*, dates, p
