Celebration!

Thinking back to my life before I got saved.....
a celebration meant a totally different thing to me.
Today, it means being excited about a Sunday at church!
Faith Baptist Church was organized in 1977, the year I graduated from high school.

I rub keyboards and shoulders with people that do not
have a church home.
They are lonely.
They have nobody to help them through
bad times....
and nobody to enjoy
good times.

I am so thankful for our church and the stand it has taken
these past 35 years.
I'm thankful for our people.
The people that are there
when times are hard,
and when times are good.
35 years of anything brings lots of change.
I've been out of high school for 35 years.
Gas was 63cents a gallon in 1977.
We've had people come,
people go.
We have two *charter* members.
They happen to be my father and mother in law.
They've been here the whole 35 years.
We got to honor them on Sunday.
What a pity it would have been to wait until
they were in heaven to celebrate their
years at FBC.

.

It was a sweet day!
of memories and fellowship.

What an honor - and you're right...celebrating our "family" of faith IS a unique and wonderful way to celebrate.

Rick Warren recently tweeted: "A Christian unconnected to a church family is an orphan." It's SO true.

My Favorite Child

I wish I had all the pictures I wanted, to go with this blog post........because I know a *picture paints a thousand words*, but for a large part of our family's life, old fashion cameras and old fashion pictures were being used.  So, many of the pictures that would help paint this post are somewhere in boxes and books.  It would take a month of Sundays to find them all so  I will just have to count on your imagination and my memory! FAVORITE: most liked, preferred above all others Sara, you were my favorite.  You were our first baby and we were so excited for you.  Your hair was perfect for me to learn how to braid and you always were very still for me.  You were the first little girl I got to dress up and put lacy socks on.  You were such a fun little girl to read to.  You memorized the books we had and it was a big part of our day to read with each other.  *where is the bear when the wind blows cold?*.    You have alw...
