*N*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Never leave the house in a mess before you go to bed.

Applying the *See How Much You Can Get Done In 15 Minutes* might be needed sometimes before bed.  NOBODY wants to get up to a crock-pot full of chili that needs washed, or newspapers and shoes all over the floor, the table cluttered with the day's events, wet play clothes and muddy shoes,  unfolded laundry on the couch or a pizza party in the front room...a cold and stale pizza party it will be in the morning.
Remember, the elves hardly EVER show up, so it's up to you.  Getting up to a mess in the morning can sometimes ruin a whole day.  You just never seem to get ahead because you were already behind even before you got up.

Try to always put things up and make things nice and have things where they belong before you go to bed.  Have you ever stayed in bed longer because you knew what you were fixing to get up to?  tut tut......
Not only go to bed with a tidy house.....have a plan for breakfast, get a coffee pot with a timer and use it, know what you're going to wear.

Be all bright eyed and bushy tailed for your family to get up to every morning.   Making sure things are in order doesn't take half as much time as being in the *red* like a bank account all day long.

Another never:

Never walk around in your house-coat or pajamas all day long.  Don't leave your hair like it was when you got up.  Don't wait for Saturday to take a shower.

Put on some pretty clothes.  Dress the part for what you plan to do that day.  Don't wear ragged out painting clothes if you're not going to paint.  Wearing worn out clothes and sad shoes.....no perfume and your hair looks like a tornado will certainly not help you get things done.  Your kids and husband depend on you to set the mood, and you do, whether you mean to or not.

Really, how would you like to get up every morning as a kid to nothing ever being ready for breakfast, mom is still in bed, wondering if you are going to do school or not, the house is a wreck and the cat wants out and the dog wants in.

Our first four children were delivered by the same midwife and she always told me to NOT get dressed for a week after I had a baby.  She said, if you get dressed, you will do too much.  Hmmmmm, that must mean if I keep my house-coat on all day, I will tend to lay around.

Ok, maybe you don't have to go this far.........but wearing the right clothes makes a big difference.  When I was in Bible college, we were always told to dress up on the days we would be taking a test.

Get up.  Be thankful.  Put on an apron and get on with your day!

Don't worry about that.....I like your writing style, it is more like I'm sitting and chatting with you instead of being lectured to.

I love love love that Fiesta teacup and saucer! I drink my coffee out of a Fiesta teacup every morning, but I don't have any that color.

My mother taught me (by example) to straighten up before going to bed. I try to do it now but on the nights I forget, you are right, it's soooo discouraging in the morning!

Most people ask why I'm so dressed up. I don't wear sweats, etc. But I don't think of myself as "dressed up" though. A nice skirt & tee shirt is fine for most things. I can always "put on an apron" as you say....

I finished reading the post after my first comment and proceeded to change clothes. (I was dressed, just not nicely), put on some mascara, brushed my hair and put on some perfume. Thanks for the tips. John is smiling already! :)

My Favorite Child

I wish I had all the pictures I wanted, to go with this blog post........because I know a *picture paints a thousand words*, but for a large part of our family's life, old fashion cameras and old fashion pictures were being used.  So, many of the pictures that would help paint this post are somewhere in boxes and books.  It would take a month of Sundays to find them all so  I will just have to count on your imagination and my memory! FAVORITE: most liked, preferred above all others Sara, you were my favorite.  You were our first baby and we were so excited for you.  Your hair was perfect for me to learn how to braid and you always were very still for me.  You were the first little girl I got to dress up and put lacy socks on.  You were such a fun little girl to read to.  You memorized the books we had and it was a big part of our day to read with each other.  *where is the bear when the wind blows cold?*.    You have always been interested in the *family tree*, dates, p
