A merry heart under the Saskatoon Tree

This is such a sweet little book.  If you see it at a thrift store, get it.  If it looks worn out, it's because it is.  I love the little animals and the plot.

It was all gray.  Just old drippy weather. Foggy.

The book tells us how each little animal was dealing with it.............or not!

Then the dew began to drip off the tree........the sun was coming out.

The little animals started to get tickled...........and to forget about their gray and drippy day.

They even danced.

Then they said...........WHAT FOG?

Proverbs 17:22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

Too bad they wasted a whole morning.
Don't waste a morning, afternoon, weekend, holiday, night................letting a broken spirit dry your bones.

I read this book to my kids back in the 1960's. Now (Jan 2013)my daughter gave her copy back to me and I reread it. Lovely, charming book. My copy is still in good shape.

We were having-----LAUGHING WEATHER! said all the animals together. Up on his limb, the little gray owlet blinked his eyes and said, "It doesn't really matter much If days are bright or gray; It's the way folks take them That makes times dull or gay!"

My Favorite Child

I wish I had all the pictures I wanted, to go with this blog post........because I know a *picture paints a thousand words*, but for a large part of our family's life, old fashion cameras and old fashion pictures were being used.  So, many of the pictures that would help paint this post are somewhere in boxes and books.  It would take a month of Sundays to find them all so  I will just have to count on your imagination and my memory! FAVORITE: most liked, preferred above all others Sara, you were my favorite.  You were our first baby and we were so excited for you.  Your hair was perfect for me to learn how to braid and you always were very still for me.  You were the first little girl I got to dress up and put lacy socks on.  You were such a fun little girl to read to.  You memorized the books we had and it was a big part of our day to read with each other.  *where is the bear when the wind blows cold?*.    You have alw...
