Turn Your Heart Towards Home

Late in the evening
When everyone was sleeping
The father of a wayward son
Slipped out in the night
And looked towards the city
And wiped away his tears
And Prayed his son could hear his father's cry
Chorus:
Turn your heart towards home
Turn your heart towards home
You've been gone so long
Turn your heart towards home
But not only the sons are wayward ones
There are mothers and fathers
Who have said their goodbyes
And the sad eyes of children
Looking through their tears
Pray their mom and daddy
could hear their cries

There are those who have never walked away from home
But in their hearts they're so many miles away
And the Father in heaven is the only one who knows
And if you'd listen you could hear Him say:
End:
You've been gone so long
Please don't wait too long
Turn your heart towards home

We saw Steve and Annie Chapman in concert when we were first married. I still remember hearing this song and feeling the tears splash off my cheeks in the dark at the concert.
Thank you for posting these tender lyrics.

FAVORITE: most liked, preferred above all others Sara, you were my favorite.  You were our first baby and we were so excited for you.  Your hair was perfect for me to learn how to braid and you always were very still for me.  You were the first little girl I got to dress up and put lacy socks on.  You were such a fun little girl to read to.  You memorized the books we had and it was a big part of our day to read with each other.  *where is the bear when the wind blows cold?*.    You have alw...
