Happy Birthday

What month you were born dictates the kind of birthday celebration you have. Or don't have. I have two kids that were born very close to two big holidays. Christmas and Thanksgiving.
Lydia asked me if she was getting a cake this year. It is hard to make a cake 2 days before Thanksgiving or 2 days after. It just is.

You birthday might be in Autumn....and you got a new jacket every year.  Or, everybody had to rake leaves, and you got to watch cartoons!

If you were born around Christmas, this is what your cake might have looked like.
If you got one.

Maybe you were born at the time of year when there was an event everybody went to.
Like the Watermelon Festival.....or a quilt show......or the county fair. And, that's what you did every year.

Or maybe your birthday was around the same time your mom always made strawberry jam.
And YOU got to go to town with her and get ice cream while she was picking up some extra jars.

Did you ask for the same cake every year?
My Grandma F. made me German Chocolate.....I loved the frosting.
Yep, as a kid I liked coconut AND nuts.
My kids always like a white cake with the colorful little chips in white frosting.
It was a fun cake to make.

The season you were born made your birthdays what they were.
To have a winter birthday meant wintery things.
Same with summer.

Gifts go with the weather!

Places you celebrate.....

more seasonal presents!

and fun......

Having a birthday really close to a big holiday like Christmas can make you crazy.

Then, they'res always the chance you will be a twin.....and have to share your birthday.  But if that's all you ever know, then you are probably OK with it.

Don't be sad about your birthday and time of year.
Don't wish for snow in July
or a picnic in January.

Be glad for it.
If you are getting really old,
be glad for your birthdays too.
You really don't want to stop having them, do you?

And what if your birthday month is FILLED with other birthdays?
Let me put it this way, if you join our family, you better hope your birthday isn't in March.

When it is all said and done, our physical birth is really a small thing.....
most will be forgotten
unless there are pictures that jolt our memory.....
It is the other birth we should be most concerned about.
While the season, the month, the day dictates what kind of birthday we have on earth.....what you do with the offer of the New Birth will dictate your ETERNITY.

John 3 -1  There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
2The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
3Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

Happy Birthday To You
How many have you?
Everybody needs TWO....
Happy Birthday To You !!

Tell me about your physical birthday AND your spiritual.

I wish I had all the pictures I wanted, to go with this blog post........because I know a *picture paints a thousand words*, but for a large part of our family's life, old fashion cameras and old fashion pictures were being used.  So, many of the pictures that would help paint this post are somewhere in boxes and books.  It would take a month of Sundays to find them all so  I will just have to count on your imagination and my memory!
