A Little Bit of Autumn


I'm homesick for the golden hills,
The fragrant autumn air.
The sound of whippoorwills at dusk,
The reddened sumac's flare,
The scent of clover and the spice
of alfalfa, blue as seas,
Dahlias tossing pretty heads
and nodding in the breeze.
