I voted.

Oh yes, I voted alrighty.

Texas was going to to with McCain anyway, so did I just waste my time?

It was just ONE vote after all. Does one vote really change anything?

I guess it really didn't take that much time to vote. I didn't even stand in line.

And I got a nice little sticker.

I'm going to tell you two things that I have had thoughts on................

1. We ought to send missionaries to the swing states.........Iowa? Pennsylvania?
Good Independent Baptist Missionaries to these places, so they can straighten things out.
See people led to the Lord so they will know how to vote. Then those states will go conservative.

Romans 3:15 Their feet are swift to shed blood:
16 Destruction and misery are in their ways:
17 And the way of peace have they not known:

2. When I get political phone calls asking for money, I tell them that we are doing all we can to make conservatives out of the people we meet. For the most part, if somebody is a Christian, they don't tend to vote for abortions and stem cell research. I tell them, we don't have $150 to send you, but we do what we can here at home.

Well, am I really doing all that I can do?
Would I be willing to help support those good Independent Baptist Missionaries that went to the swing states?
Am I really spending time telling others the 'Good News'?

Or do I spend my time complaining about big government, ding-bat democrats and taxes?
What have I personally done the past 4 years that has helped this downward spiral go upward?

Psalms 139:23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

Just think, if I had the zeal that the campaigning candidates have had.........the difference it COULD make.

Titus 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

We vote. It is ONE vote.

We tell others about Christ. They get saved. It multiplies. Everybody knows it multiplies.
You see a husband and wife get saved, then they tell their parents, they get saved, then the people down the street, then a few families at some apartment complexes come to know the Lord.......

It's easier to vote, isn't it?
Yes, I voted for McCain. It was a vote against Obama.
It didn't work.
It wasn't enough.
The 15 minutes I spent voting, was not enough.

I MUST spend my time in better places and better things.
AND vote.
Don't stop voting.
Just stop expecting it to change the world.
We as Christians know what really changes the world.

Acts 17:6 These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;

But it is harder than voting.

I don't feel very excited about our newly elected president.
I'm not one bit happy about it.
Of course we would all like to see a conservative win the Office.......but one did not.
So what are we going to do since we don't have a president that will take care of all the clean-up?
Vote no when he should vote no.........and vote yes when he should vote yes?

I've been taught better, but somehow I have this little part of me that wants to trust in our government, to know that the people on Capitol Hill will watch out for our interests.

Psalms 9:10 And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

We really don't ever need to trust in government.
Remember that.
It will do me good to remember it also.

Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

I didn't get a sticker. I feel jilted. Good thing, I thought ahead and the children and I made I Voted medallions to wear around our necks. Older 2 children and husband refused to wear such a work of art. My 2 younger boys loved their mama's work of art and wore them proudly, like they really voted and made a difference.
Great post btw, inspiring.

WE can pray for our government and let GOD change things. This is definitely the best post I've read so far the day after the voting. You are so right. Christians, especially me, need to get to work. Being on a blog that gets read all over the world has given me insight to how few believe as we do. I still trust GOD. It will be alright!

Yes, Michele!

We need to run the race that God has put before us...
Not the presidential race...the race to glorify Him with sowing the Seed.

Wonderful! Can I ashamedly (is that a word?) admit that I had not thought of sending people to the blue states to minister to them. WOW! What a great idea. I always think of missionaries in foreign lands..
You are so right about witnessing to others to correct the wrongs in this country.

When you say it is only one vote, you forget that there are the rest of us 51,000,000 voters who also voted as you did; for a government that allows people the opportunity to make the life they want, that allows each to decide the path to God that they will take, and allows each of us to make a life according to his or her desires. We don't need the government to assign us a measure of 'need', and I sure would resent it if the government took what was mine through hard work, and gave it to someone who didn't want to work.

When the government starts to take away our freedoms, we need to rise up and remind them that there are all these millions who voted 'NO!' to their programs. Really saturate Mrs. Pelosi's with our opinions, along with your REP. in the House and in the Senate. If we don't let them know what we think, they will do exactly as they want. They hear what we say, and if enough of us say it, they will listen. Somewhere in the back of their mind is the gnawing thought that maybe, just maybe, they could get voted out of office.

Your vote counts, as much as one FOR Obama.

Very good post. However, I would have to say that I don't think Iowa would be called a swing state, though. They have voted Democrat since I can remember. (my home state and current residence so I can say negative things like that!)

Michele, you have told us the answer, hearts need to be changed by the Lord Jesus Christ. How can they hear without a preacher? Yes, we all can do our part by telling others the gospel then go out and cast our vote. Great post! Grandma

My Favorite Child

I wish I had all the pictures I wanted, to go with this blog post........because I know a *picture paints a thousand words*, but for a large part of our family's life, old fashion cameras and old fashion pictures were being used.  So, many of the pictures that would help paint this post are somewhere in boxes and books.  It would take a month of Sundays to find them all so  I will just have to count on your imagination and my memory!
