Pink of Perfection?

My Aunt N. had a record we used to listen to a LONG time ago, I can’t remember very much about it except this…….’she’s the pink of perfection……………she’s a dainty baboon, and she think she’s the pink of perfection!’
I thought it would be a good title to the thoughts I have been having concerning pride.

We sometimes can be very ‘full’ of ourselves. Toot our own horn. Remind people about how sad they would be without us. But we are a vapor.

We think we are more pure than the wind driven snow…….
But all we are is a landfill.

We think we are a wad of fifty dollar bills……
But all we are is a cup of bad coffee.

We think we’re the greatest thing since sliced bread
But all we are is a can of cheap cat food.

We think we are as dandy as Roy Rogers
But all we are is a computer virus.

We think we are a crisp Autumn morning
But all we are is a ring that is too tight that won’t come off……..

We think we are a fresh box of Shipley’s donuts
But all we are is a lost library book.

We think we are the cat’s meow
But all we are is a failed test.

We think we are a full tank of gas
But all we are is a paper cut.

We think we are a perfect morning smoothie in a decorative pineapple glass
But all we are is a cracked windshield.

We think we are a straight seam
But all we are is a wrong ‘to go’ order.

We think we are a shiny button
But all we are is a mouth sore.

We think somebody should write a song about us
But all we are is a rock in a tennis shoe.

If we were a vehicle, we would be a Hummer
But we’re really a dry cough.

We think if we were a book, we’d be a best seller
But all we are is a damp basement.

We think we are a rare butterfly
But all we are is a stubbed toe.

We think we are a farmhouse on the hill
But we’re only a pain in the neck.

If we were a bracelet, we’d of course be a ‘charm’
But we’re really wilted flowers.

We’d like to think ALL of our vision is 20-20
But we’re just fleas on a dog.

We love to paint a beautiful picture of ourselves…….but it isn’t a good idea.

Proverbs 22:4 ¶ By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.

Proverbs 29: 23 ¶ A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

Micah 6: 8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

Romans 12: 3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

Philippians 2: 3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

James 4: 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

1 Peter 5: 5 ¶ Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

Psalm 73:6 Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.
Proverbs 21: 4 ¶ An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.

Isaiah 5: 21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

1 Corin. 8:2 And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.

Proverbs 25: 14 ¶ Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain.

Luke 14: 11 For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

Proverbs 28: 26 ¶ He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

Proverbs 17:19 ¶ He loveth transgression that loveth strife: and he that exalteth his gate seeketh destruction.

Excellent reminder!

I really liked this Scripture:

Proverbs 28:26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

I get so tired of people giving the advice of 'Do what your heart is leading you to do.' That is TERRIBLE advice!

I shall never look at a cracked windshield with the same attitude.
It will be a good reminder for me every time I enter the vehicle.

None of us are nothing that could be bragged about and if there is any good seen in us, it is of the Lord. Grandma

My Favorite Child

I wish I had all the pictures I wanted, to go with this blog post........because I know a *picture paints a thousand words*, but for a large part of our family's life, old fashion cameras and old fashion pictures were being used.  So, many of the pictures that would help paint this post are somewhere in boxes and books.  It would take a month of Sundays to find them all so  I will just have to count on your imagination and my memory! FAVORITE: most liked, preferred above all others Sara, you were my favorite.  You were our first baby and we were so excited for you.  Your hair was perfect for me to learn how to braid and you always were very still for me.  You were the first little girl I got to dress up and put lacy socks on.  You were such a fun little girl to read to.  You memorized the books we had and it was a big part of our day to read with each other.  *where is the bear when the wind blows cold?*.    You have always been interested in the *family tree*, dates, p
