Approaching Enchanted Rock

Just a note here about dresses and hiking.......we went on LOTS of walks, trails, hikes and roads. We climbed, we slid, we teetered back and forth between rocks, we slipped and trotted. Not ONCE did we show anything that didn't need to be shown. You do not need to wear jeans, capris or anything else to do these kinds of things. Olivia, Lydia and I each fell. Olivia at Enchanted Rock, Lydia on the 7 mile trail, and me on the Trammel's Crossing trail. You can even fall down without being immodest. Now, I don't know for sure about Olivia and her bike trip, but for the most part........it's not true that you gotta dress up like a guy to do these things.

Yes, Pastor Mac.
The people who wear mini-skirts. ;)

Mo, an interesting side benefit of having the girls wear more skirts/dresses is that dh has become much more aware of the modesty issue in general and the need for ladylike behavior in our daughters. I like the snowball effect it's having in so many areas.....pretty nifty trick.

Don't Be Idle

This is Zephyr. She is the most discontent, unhappy cat I've ever seen in my life. She is selfish plain and simple. All she can think about is HER belly. This is not done in silence. When I get up (early), she's been up for hours wasting away. She's died of starvation 8 times. Don't be like Zephyr. The Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment by Jeremiah Burroughs   "Who are the men who are most discontented?  but idle persons-- for they lie around and find fault with everything."   (page 50-51) Zephyr is an unhappy cat. Not a happy camper.   How about you? IDLE lazy, slothful, work-shy (ha ha) shiftless, inactive, sluggish (like a bad drain) without purpose DISCONTENT dissatisfaction with circumstances displeasure Have you no weeds to pull? No list to make or finish? No bread to bake? Nothing to mend or fix? No corner to clean? Nothing to learn? No letter to write? No project to fin...

My Favorite Child

I wish I had all the pictures I wanted, to go with this blog post........because I know a *picture paints a thousand words*, but for a large part of our family's life, old fashion cameras and old fashion pictures were being used.  So, many of the pictures that would help paint this post are somewhere in boxes and books.  It would take a month of Sundays to find them all so  I will just have to count on your imagination and my memory! FAVORITE: most liked, preferred above all others Sara, you were my favorite.  You were our first baby and we were so excited for you.  Your hair was perfect for me to learn how to braid and you always were very still for me.  You were the first little girl I got to dress up and put lacy socks on.  You were such a fun little girl to read to.  You memorized the books we had and it was a big part of our day to read with each other.  *where is the bear when the wind blows cold?*.    You have alw...
