The things I list are not in order of importance. They are pretty much in the order they came to me in.
boys should take all trash out and keep all trash cans clean
do all yard work, mow/weed-eat/trim/yard trash/sweep sidewalks/sweep street in front of house/take care of yard deco/take care of lawn furniture/rake/move bricks/pull weeds or at least take them to the side of the road for mom/poop scoop.......there should never be dog stuff in your yard if you have a boy....
boys should take care of bikes........tires, seats and general care......let it be their job to make sure they are all in the garage at night.....they can start looking out for things early on and then they'll get used to being concerned
car/van/truck care.......wash, wax, vacuum, dispose of trash in vehicles, napkins always in glove box, change oil, put gas in for mom, check oil
boys should tighten things up around the house.....anything that is loose......swings and doors for example
boys should kill bugs and dispose of them, remove rodents from the bathtub, move furniture and run into the store for mom
they should give animals their baths and shake out animal beds and clean out dog houses
they should feed animals and take them on walks
they should hang all curtains, load trailers, put cup hooks in ceilings for your wind chimes, carry all heavy objects from point A to point B
they should take care of ice chests.......keep them soapy clean and rinsed and dry and in their rightful place
boys should take care of camping equipment, chairs in bags and stakes WITH the tent
boys should crawl on roofs and remove dead possums from the electrical outlets
they should cut limbs and take them to the road, always carry in groceries, sweep the garage, keep tools neat, everything in garage at night and door shut
iron their own clothes, pay for their own hair-cuts.....if they can't pay for it, then mom does it and they can't complain
boys should learn to cut their own hair even if they have money
they should have a basketball, football and some frisbees, ropes and bungee cords
they could shine dad's boots, help others for free and wash your windows
they should WANT to go to Home Depot and Lowe's and NOT a music store for dvd's and video games
boys should move the stove and fridge so mom and sisters can clean
moms and dads should buy G.A. Henty books for their sons and maybe even let them read a few Louis LaMour (sp?) books HULLO THE CAMP
they should have some weight lifting equipment and a good book to teach them how to do it safely
buy them Bible commentaries and dictionaries, steel toed boots and floppy camo hats. Oh, whistles and bandanas.
Let them turn on all machines if possible...let them do the hot sauce in the blender. They love to hear things go.
they must be involved in all that dad does......do not allow them to lay in the couch when dad is under the van....boys should watch their dad do tires, lamps, repairs, plumbing, wheel barrows, ac/s and heaters, keys, locks, saws, loppers, flag poles, garage doors, picture hanging, bbq'ing, roofs, gutters, stump removal, fence building, part stores, sanding and caulking
boys should carry heavy baskets of wet clothes out to the line for mom
So, you don't live by a river, you don't have a boat, no pigs chickens or horses........
Seems to me, there's still plenty to do.
We did this to both of our boys and they are adjusted young men.

We restored a 16' tralier that belonged to my Dad. I told Dad if he would let us have it we would fix it up and keep tags on it and he could use it whenever he wanted. It cost about $700 to restore it but Daniel paid for part of it. We sold a smaller trailer to pay for part of it. And I paid for part of it. Sanding, grinding, welding, painting, wiring. We did it because I wanted something for Daniel to do.
My boys and I have re-plumbed the house. We have remodled half of the garage for an office for me. We are making plans to remodel the kitchen. Caleb our oldest son financed the first two project when he lived at home. Daniel is financing the kitchen remodling. Our remodling projects may not be the fanciest but that's not why we were doing it. They may not bear the marks of a master plumber or carpenter, or electirican, but that it not why we were doing it.
Boys must have projects that transform them into men. I am glad that my boys would rather help somebody build a fence than play a video game.
In the Pizza business I have worked with adolescents for 17 years now. The work ethic is appalling. I would be ashamed of my boys if they had the same attitude about work as most of the young people with whom I have had to work.
I would add (although my lone boy is 3 and doesn't have chores yet), that they should also learn some basic housekeeping skills -- their wife will really appreciate it one day. Even if you are teaching traditional gender roles, it's always nice to have hubby pitch in alongside once and a while. Plus, mama doesn't have to come clean the bachelor pad once a month, either!
This one on boys was great! There are too many boys that "don't wanta get dirty" as one little boy told my son when my son Jordan asked if he wanted to dig for craw daddies in our ditch one day.
Hey, I would love love a post on what to do with girls... and how to fight temptation to dress worldly. There aren't many more that take our KJV face value anymore. It is always very good to receive encouragement about christian modest dress. I love that.... and I am a *very* new pastors wife. I would love a post on that too...Okay ,So you don't have to but these are just suggestions. I believe ladies could learn a great deal from you Mrs.Mo and I know I could. I also love to see yours and Olivia's pictures because they bless me

and also, i wanted to let you know that in no way was i trying to push you to write about something nor do i mean to spend all your time writing to us (as some women do) but that I personally would get a blessing from it if you felt the need to.
