Psalm 143

Psalm 143 1 Hear my prayer, O Lord, give ear to my supplications:  in thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness. 2 And enter not into judgment with thy servant:  for in thy sight shall no man living be justified. 3 For the enemy hath persecuted my soul;  he hath smitten my life down to the ground;  he hath made me to dwell in darkness,  as those that have been long dead. 4 Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me;  my heart within me is desolate. 5 I remember the days of old; I meditate on all thy works;  I muse on the work of thy hands. 6 I stretch forth my hands unto thee:  my soul thirsteth after thee, as a thirsty land. Selah. 7 Hear me speedily, O Lord: my spirit faileth:  hide not thy face from me,  lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit. 8 Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning;  for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way ...

What does it take to wipe a smile off of your face?  A knot in your yarn?  A small blister?  Mold on strawberries you just bought?  Sloshed coffee?  A ruined carrot cake with expensive ingredients?  Rain?  What if somebunny barks at you?  What if you trip going up the stairs? I remember going to the public pool in Medicine Lodge, Kansas.  They made everybunny get out of the pool for 15 minutes for breaks. (the Great Bend pool did NOT)  EVERY time it upset me.  Like I didn't know it was going to happen and like 15 minutes rest time was really 15 hours.  Yes, it would wipe the smile off of my face. As a little kid, I couldn't look ahead  and be prepared and mature about things like that. But now I can be.  I can look ahead, prepare, have a plan, make up my mind, and decide *beforehand* what I'm going to do and how I'm going to act when something less than lovely happens to me. My reaction to things is very impor...

Promises !

My dad had LOTS of sayings.  He had something to say for every occasion.......or a little song for whatever was going on.  He used to say: "Promises! Promises!"  In other words, your words are useless.  You make promises but never carry through. Well, I found the Lord to stay true to His promises, every one of them.   I bought this little box of verses around the time I was saved.  Bible verses were SO foreign to me.  My knowledge of the Bible could fit in half a walnut shell.  I'm so glad I still have the Bible I used when I first got saved.......I like to look at the pages and remember back when I was learning new things.  Good things.  True things.   I happen to remember the first verse I memorized.   Psalm 58:11 ..........  and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not. What do you remember from when you were newly saved?  What sticks in your mind?...

The World

I have a book with all sorts of fun facts and information in it. I like reading books like that because there's always a good stopping place... on just about any page. There are a couple pages in the book that have lists of the  most admired women in America. 1986-1948 Corazon Aquino Ella Grasso Corretta Scott King Lurleen Wallace Rose Kennedy Lady Bird Johnson Oveta Culp Hobby Princess Elizabeth Clare Boothe Luce Eleanor Roosevelt This is just a sample of some of the names....... just see how fleeting fame is..... I recognized lots of the names,  but very few could I explain why they were  somebody's favorites. I don't know how or why they made the list. For a little while, it had me concerned,  as if I was missing out on some great information. I was not. At about the same time I read this list, my husband was preaching through the people from Hebrews Hall of Faith! Hebrews 11:1  Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,  the evidence of th...

#4

#1.......I may not have a *book* that has all of our activities recorded these past 30 some years, but I have the things I need to remember in my heart and those things pop up every once in a while and make me smile.  (like the morning Mrs. A. used the top of our coffee filter holder for a cereal bowl) !! I cannot undo this or make it right,I feel it's a little late to start a book, so I should just learn to enjoy the good and forget the bad.  MAKE good memories today. #2......There ARE school records.....they're just not in the same place.  I shouldn't beat myself up over it.  We had wonderful days of school.........I maybe wasn't a great math teacher.....(actually, no maybe about it)....but all of my kids can write and speak well.  That was my goal.  I surely cannot gather up all of the records and *make* that elusive notebook.........I should just be thankful that I could home-school. #3.........Ahhhh, glorious pictures.  I CAN fix this.  ...

The Bible

The Will of God.... is found in the  Word of God. Christians need not be confused about what the will of God is for their lives.  If the Scripture doesn't support it........then don't do it.  There are some things you don't need to pray about........you already have an answer.  If we don't like the answer, we claim confusion and that God isn't being clear . Proverbs 3:5-6 (KJV)   5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.   6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. The better you know your Bible, the more clear God's will is. The more you obey it.........the easier it is. Trust and Obey for there's no other way To be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey.

soup book

I guess I wouldn't expect to find such a thought as I did in a library book about soup. I think the best place to find quotes must NOT be from quote books. "Until lions have their own historians, tales of the hunt will always glorify the hunter." Handy isn't it? To tell a story about something, and the object of the story is now a rug or a wall decoration. It is a true thing........ if you only have one side of a story, then you don't have the whole story. I can't think of a time when it's good to make decisions and silly statements.... when you only have part of the truth. It's a handy thing to look like a brave mighty hunter because you KNOW that nobody will ever know how much you ran and how scared you were. Stretch the truth and it becomes a lie, and those that were not there for the hunt, will never know. Things mounted to a wall............ or people that don't get a chance to speak........... have something to say, too. Ephesians 5...

gloom and doom

Depression is boring, I think, and I would do better to make some soup and light up the cave. If you feel the darkness of depression and gloom come upon you, get up and do something. If it's dark in your house, make it bright. If there is an empty tummy, make it full. Do something for somebody. It always makes you feel better.

Nave's Topical Bible

I have gotten rid of quite a few of my books in these past few years.  I feel I no longer need reference books. It's not that I have quit looking things up or learning, there's just another way to go about it these days. It is too easy to get on the internet and *google* things I need to know and want to find out. products health issues music people clothing crafts recipes how-to books news and a million more things I got this Nave's Topical Bible yesterday for a dime. Sometimes I have a word or name or place in my head, and I just need to find where it is in the Bible. I think this is one book I will not get rid of. So many things in our lives we have to plug in or have a battery to make them work.   It's just nice to have something in your hand sometimes that doesn't glow or beep or ring. I teach the girls age 2-12 on Sunday mornings. I don't use flannel-graph or material from a publisher. Last week we talked about Obadiah and being a Delig...

Good Morning

There is always, always, something to be thankful for.
Guard Your Heart

easy?

If submission and obedience were easy, we could rename those words to downhill and slipper slide.  Why do we wonder at the struggle? Why do we put UP such a struggle? ....as if some strange thing has come upon us? (((((((((((((((I-DON'T-GET-MY-WAY?)))))))))))

Servant? Humble?

Indian lay down blanket. Indian lay down pipe. Indian lay down tomahawk. Indian lay down Indian. Matthew 23:12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted. 1 Peter 5:5 .....and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. I think what separates us from doing things for people, and being a true humble servant, is MOTIVE. Others may not be able to put their finger on it, OR be able to put it into words.... but the Lord ponders all of our goings. How often and *I* really a servant?

From Mrs. Dunwoody

.......she taught that women were not just doing chores, they were creating--creating a home, a place of security, warmth, contenement, and affection.  A place where even the everyday things in our lives were held sacred and should therefore be cared for and treated in a special and orderly way.  "Imagine if you lost every single one of your possessions for a month.  why, even a drinnking glass would be meaningful to you at such a point!  consider how appreciative and happy you would be if everything was then returned to you, just as it had been.  Give it some thought," she wrote. It should be a relief to come home at the end of the day, close the door behind you, and find things as they should be (and always have been). Proverbs 31:10  Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

Live Laugh Love?

Live Laugh Love There is something about that little 'phrase' you see everywhere that rubs me the wrong way. Not that it's wrong to live, laugh or love......I just guess if you are laughing, you're probably living. Now, I'm a great lover of quotes and ditties....but some of them are not very deep....and you must not practice them or say them over and over in your mind until you *believe* they are good and true. Catchy rhymes and cute sayings are not always true. It is much better to say things over and over in your mind that are true. That are good. That are from the Bible. There are so many things we should be thinking and doing, we shouldn't have time to do the other worldy things and repeat worldly thoughts and plaster them all over the things we own. Guilty. How about these? Put these on your walls. On your vases. In a picture. On a necklace..... ponder-consider-heed preach-warn-admonish plant-build-work comfort-edify-refresh stand-abide-prove watch-con...

You Will Never Be Sorry

......for thinking the best possible of the doings of others. Proverbs 6:18 (one of the six things the Lord doth hate) An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, ........for forgiving those who have wronged you. Matthew 18:35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother for their trespasses. (plural) ......for giving money to mission work. Matthew 28:19 Go .....for being prompt in keeping your promises. Proverbs 25:19 Confidence in an unfaithful manin time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint. ......for being patient with stubborn playmates. Ephesians 4:2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; ......for thinking before speaking. Proverbs 25:11 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver. ......for honouring your parents. Ephesians 3:20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. ......

A Song

I wrote a tune to this poem a long time ago. I was very sad when I did it. He healeth the broken in heart  and bindeth up their wounds He telleth the number of the stars He calleth them all by their names There is hope and help for our sighs and tears For the wound that stings and smarts Our God is at home with the rolling spheres And at home with broken hearts........... One verse is about a poor broken heart And the next among the stars And the next among the stars M.P. Ferguson (I changed some lines around to make it musical) Psalm 147:3,4 He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds. He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.
