Last Day at Sulphur Springs

This is the ric-rac I bought at Canton.  I figured while I had time, that I should go through all of it and make it nice.  I hate loose ends, and these all had plenty.  I love to add ric-rac to different things I make......just a nice little punch. So, I discovered that I had a rainbow of ric-rac.  Packages of fun.  Colorful ripples. This was Friday morning.  Such fun to go see what the lake and the sky looked like morning, noon, and night! I worked on cutting, tying, and rolling fabric, almost all day long.  I brought a huge bag full of fabric with  hopes that I would finish it.  I did.   My husband rolled and tied a few balls.....he let me win a race so I could choose where we ate that night.  I did NOT want to be camp cook, so we went into town.  Before we went into town, we drove around the park and listened to small town radio.  They were broadcasting their high school graduation an...

Canton!

First Monday in Canton.... starts on a Thursday and ends on Sunday. I guess it all started with hogs and dogs. Trading and selling. How about a trade?  My faithful dog for your gun? poor dog These statues are in the entrance of the shopping paradise. We've heard about this place and have wanted to go for years. It finally worked out so we could. I asked for something decaff. All their decaff. drinks were plain Jane, so I ordered something else. Fire and Ice. I figured if I was going to have caffeine, I might as well enjoy it. I did. This is the only time we sat down all day.....we shopped from 9 till about 4:30. Adrenaline that help you shop is a dandy thing! The place was massive.  There were degrees of products. Inside the air conditioned part, things were fancy and rather pricey. The closer you got to outside, the warmer it got, and prices and items changed. A little less fluff. The more we walked, the more things b...

Here is kind of a sad picture.  These are strays that evidently live in this road side park.  The picnic tables were made in the late 30's.  Looks like they might last another 50 years!  They don't make them like *this* anymore.....seems like things built today are made to break and be replaced, and Americans are glad to do so. This was sad, too.  Makes me think this woman had a skip in her step and twinkle in her eye right up to her death. Even MORE sad.  Makes me think of English...........sad, sadder, saddest. I love old doors and the chippy paint. Wednesday before church, this is where we ate.  It was just your run of the mill TEX-MEX eatery. I liked their window! We drove through two or three little cities looking for a church that was OPEN on a Wednesday evening for services.  We found a church with a young pastor........their church had been vandalized that morning.  I must say, he had a pretty good spi...

My mom gave us this neat little hibachi....some state parks have nice bbq pits, some do not.  This place did not so I was glad we brought this.  We didn't do a lot of cooking on it.....it's very easy to run out of energy and just go to Pizza Inn. I don't *wear* my phone, I don't take it with me everywhere I go, I CAN live without it.....but it kind of jabbed me every time I saw ROAMING......it made me feel like a buffalo.  "Oh give me a hoooooome..." Dummy me......I was sending texts and people were replying, but I wasn't getting them. I hate dead zones.  Then on Friday afternoon, I turned my phone off, then back on.  I got 20 texts all at once.  It was pretty fun! It was fun to see different wildflowers all around the park.  Late May is a good time to be there! Sunrise, Sunset.  It was so fun to see the different colors in the morning and evening.  Because of where our house is situated here in town.....I see just t...

Camping Camping

We went to Sulphur Springs to get a few campy groceries. This is the courthouse in their town square. We enjoyed their Mayberry RFD small town type radio station the whole time we were there. We saw men working around this building on sidewalks..... seems like they had lots of trouble underground. We heard it on the radio. I bought three sticks of incense... the biggest ones I have seen in my life. I used the *sink* for the holder! We took a hike on Tuesday morning. It was five miles round trip. We walked a little over three. My husband could have done all of it, but I wore out quickly. I am horribly out of shape. Poison ivy, bridges, tree roots, pretty little flowers,  confusing signs. All part of a Texas State Park HIKE.
