school

Bunny might think she's a cat sometimes..... Here are some of Lydia's books. I will use a book from the 1930's if I can find a good one! Like the Bible study book. Truth is Truth, right? The DOG book is for art....Lydia is going to sketch dogs. Body By Design is going to be an EXCELLENT book. We started school today.  It was a really quiet morning. I was remembering back to the day when FOUR kids would start school and there were two littles NOT in school. That made for lots of noise. Happy noise. But it was really quiet for this first day. I got the books ready. Lydia got up. Went to the table and did her work. Then she was done. And that was the first day. The last time I had one kid in school.....Sara was in first grade. For years and years I've had kids in every corner of the house.... either doing school, avoiding it, or wishing they could DO school. I have always been a 'better late than never' type of teacher. Why start a kid in school when they&

24 Hours

Kimberly bought tickets for James and I to see *Leaving Iowa* AD Players. The friend that helped her buy the tickets suggested that we eat at this cafe. It was a most tasty idea. Stayed at the InterContinental hotel....on the 6th floor. There were 23 floors. If they has ASKED us, I would have requested the 22nd floor.  But they didn't ask. Another HotWire deal. Ate at the PIE Cafe for breakfast...they so kindly kept my husband's hat all day for him. Went to the HomeSchool Store for a few school books. We have one student this year, so it didn't take much looking. Not much looking compared to years before, but when I walk into that store, I forget how many kids I ever had, what grade they are in and what books we own and don't own and what I should buy or not buy. That store RATTLES me. A few books for me..... A small pile for husband.... OH YEAH....and some for Lydia. Most, not all, of Rod and Staff Bible books are good. A few of the other kids did t

Surprise Flowers in August !!

Part of the joy of gardening is never knowing what will pop up, and where something might end up. It's hot and miserable here in the summer, but to have flowers bloom even through winter makes it all worth it.  I can't imagine life without gardening. I like to pull weeds. I like to plant seeds. I like to snip flowers for vases. I like to move bricks and rocks to decorate. I love Shamrocks and I love Irises. I like to see frogs hop around. I like to use mulch. I just wish I could get Morning Glories to bloom.

God Wants To Hear You Sing

Verse 1 Their chains were fastened tight Down at the jail that night Still Paul and Silas would not be dismayed They said, “It’s time to lift our voice, Sing praises to the Lord Let’s prove that we will trust Him come what may” Chorus God wants to hear you sing When the waves are crashing ‘round you When the fiery darts surround you When despair is all you see God wants to hear your voice When the wisest man has spoken And says, “Your circumstance is as hopeless as can be” That’s when God wants to hear you sing Verse 2 He loves to hear our praise on our cheerful days When the pleasant times outweigh the bad, by far But when suffering comes along And we still sing Him songs That is when we bless the Father’s heart

Kim's Day

Kim got a surprise this morning....I planned a party at the beach for her.  It turned out great and she was surprised. Of course we went to Buc-ees first. Presents from a friend. Just having fun in the sun!! Kimberly's idea of sunscreen. It probably wasn't the 'best' day to be at the beach. School starts Monday and everybody was acting like it  was 'their' birthday....at the beach today. I was glad it didn't rain, I am thankful for our van that keeps making it over the bridge, I am thankful for my kids, and am glad for the people persons that came to the 'party' and made it fun.  Don't anybody tell Jehu OR Bunny why they got plunked in their kennels all afternoon. Happy Birthday to YOu KIM
O thou who art more near to us than air, Let me not miss Thee, ever, anywhere.

A Hymn For Sunday

Matthew 18:12-13 How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?  And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray. There were ninety and nine that safely lay In the shelter of the fold. But one was out on the hills away, Far off from the gates of gold. Away on the mountains wild and bare. Away from the tender Shepherd’s care. Away from the tender Shepherd’s care. “Lord, Thou hast here Thy ninety and nine; Are they not enough for Thee?” But the Shepherd made answer: “This of Mine Has wandered away from Me; And although the road be rough and steep, I go to the desert to find My sheep, I go to the desert to find My sheep.” But none of the ransomed ever knew How deep were the waters crossed; Nor how dark was the night the Lord passed through

End of the week.....

These smelled SO good when I took them off the line. Lots better than coming out of a dryer, I'm sure. Four out of five cousins stayed up all night and played games. I didn't hear a peep. I either was sleeping very well, or they were very quiet. Before I left to take Kim to work, I made out a 'to do' list. One of the things 'to do' was go through coffee cups and weed them out. Only keep special ones. Then I go to my favorite thrift store and they had these. I bought them. I'm not even sorry. This HAD to be the most MISERABLE day to do yard work. It rained in between blasts of hot sunshine. I was covered with grit and rain and bugs and probably other things you don't want to hear about. I got LOTS done though.  I created a monster in my yard.  I built me gardens and enjoyed them for a short time, then they started to taunt me. I have spent the last 4 or 5 years trying to tame them....except for this year.  This is the year of the disappearing

I'd like to make a quilt....

I'd love to make a quilt. Or maybe a pot holder. Or maybe just sew on a button.

MoDay, August 10

The cats hear me walk down the hallway.  Anybody else can walk down the hallway at any time during the morning and they won't meow their starving hearts out.  But they know when I'm up. This morning I fed four cats.  We only own three, but I was so glad to see Cougar that I didn't mind feeding Funny Face from next door.  Cougar has a horrible gouge out of his neck from a fight.  I was afraid he was not going to come back. I read a little in my little room and wrote a little in my little journal. I made some hot coffee....you might be thinking, well duh.  Coffee IS hot.  I usually do not drink hot coffee in the morning. I chill leftover coffee every day, so every morning I get up, I have it cold.  But when James runs out of Starbuck's beans, there is no cold coffee for me. I drank my hot coffee out of the Colorado cup.  Colorado always makes me smile. I mixed up some Apple Scones for breakfast.  The recipe called for grated cheese, but that just didn't sou
