Harvey August 2017

Friday, while Harvey was approaching the coast of Texas, I started to clean up my sewing room. *Somebody let it get messy.* The above picture is a huge old kitchen pantry from a sale.  It holds yarn, embroidery patterns, holiday fabric, sewing patters and crochet hooks.   The bird bag you see is the bag I take along in the car on long trips. I fix embroidery projects. I don't get car sick, so it's a fun thing to do while driving. It's better than crocheting because when I pull the thread up, I also look up. With crocheting, I never get to look up to see the country side. To the right is where I keep all my embroidery thread. I do have lots, but I do lots of embroidering. It's a low cost hobby and I love it. The top can is full of variegated thread. This is the table my sewing machine is on. It was formerly my Pastor and Wife's kitchen table. It's kind of special. The fabric on the left are hopeful aprons....

A Birthday Present

I knew I wanted to make somebunny a bag.  I knew I wanted to pick out new fabric, not use some I had on my shelves.  I went to Hobby Lobby.  I knew I didn't need very much, so I could choose something really fun.  I must have looked for 1/2 hour......going back and forth, well this, no----this.  Well, this.  Nahhh. So I chose this blue and magenta flowery print.  I have found that MOST of my time goes into choosing fabric......not in the actual sewing. Then I have to choose ric-rac.....then buttons.  It's a wonder anybunny ever gets a present from me.  I love to put colors together, I love to sew.....so it's worth every minute I spend.   Do you have trouble choosing colors? fabric? buttons? paint? nail polish?

The skirt on the left, I have had for a long time. I wear it ALL the time.  That's why it's faded. I couldn't believe my eyes when there was one at a thrift store for $2!  I bought it and will probably fade it out also.  I love the colors...and LOTS of tops go with this skirt. (s) It may look like I spend LOTS of $$$ on skirts. I don't. Most of the skirts I own cost less than $1....some may have cost me all of fifty cents. I do have a lot of skirts, but that's what I wear.  All the time.  I might go back to jumpers, but right now I am wearing skirts.  It's fun to have a choice, it's also fun to sew and to find them! I'm waiting for the Holidays so I can wear this skirt. Hopefully I can find a red top to go with it. It is a whimisical skirt....lots of snowy bunnys and snowflakes.  I can't wait to wear this!! These skirts used to be dresses....until today. I was going through my closet looking for something and I ran across these.  I put ...

I'd like to make a quilt....

I'd love to make a quilt. Or maybe a pot holder. Or maybe just sew on a button.

Just my days

does this cat look like she's in a bad mood or WHAT? Olivia cooked this up when the cool front blew in. It was quite comforting. Crunch cake for company on Sunday. Don't you love sprinkles? Sewing an apron.

morning

I lit a candle.......... looked over a pattern.........I will keep the pattern for the shorts because I can make pantaloons out of them bymaking them a little longer and adding elastic at the knees...........I call them Little Bo-Peeps........and I kept the pullover top pattern.....I have plans........ I made beans. I put them on to soak last night before bed, and when I got up, there were too many in the crock-pot AGAIN.......I did the same thing last time I made beans. My eyes are bigger than my crock-pot. At least they turned out. Sometimes they don't. Then I want to hang my head and cry. I hung out some clothes.

11:13 a.m.

Olivia came home with this fabric from the SPCA thrift store.........I oooooohed and aaaaaaaaahed over it, then Olivia gave it to me. One of these days, ONE of these days, I will make something with it. It is really soft........I washed it in my Tide Lilac soap and it smells lovely.

pacified.

cut fabric 2 inches wide and about 10 inches long iron sides to make a hem fold together and sew making a strap like creation you gotta have some snaps REALLY old ones will work. I don't know why this thing is GLOWING? this is the finished product on ONE end this goes around the pacifier the other end is sewn shut for a key ring and a clip to clip to clothes didn't get a good picture of that. woops

new outfit

We have had this skirt forever.......it has been a really hard skirt to find a top for.....you know the kind........you get a skirt and look at it for 7 years and wish you had a top to go with it type skirt......... so I made one for it..........I have found that I can do this particular pattern......... I used to be afraid to do elastic around the neck.....but it isn't so bad. Now I can do it with my eyes closed, but I doubt I ever need to.......so I won't.
