Rabbit Trails

Friday, while Harvey was approaching the coast of Texas, I started to clean up my sewing room. *Somebody let it get messy.* The above picture is a huge old kitchen pantry from a sale.  It holds yarn, embroidery patterns, holiday fabric, sewing patters and crochet hooks.   The bird bag you see is the bag I take along in the car on long trips. I fix embroidery projects. I don't get car sick, so it's a fun thing to do while driving. It's better than crocheting because when I pull the thread up, I also look up. With crocheting, I never get to look up to see the country side. To the right is where I keep all my embroidery thread. I do have lots, but I do lots of embroidering. It's a low cost hobby and I love it. The top can is full of variegated thread. This is the table my sewing machine is on. It was formerly my Pastor and Wife's kitchen table. It's kind of special. The fabric on the left are hopeful aprons....

  I spent another day in my gardens. A nice pretty cool front blowing in on this September day, did NOT happen, but I went out anyway. It was only 98% humid. Could have been worse, right?   It was warm, not hot, but warm.    I've heard some people say they don't care about flowers.  Or flower gardens. Or anything like it.     I get bit by red ants. Sometimes when I pull a weed, the dirt and sand will fly right into my eyes. I sprayed myself with OFF, which is something I hate, but the mosquitoes are horrible right now. I get dirt under my fingernails, I break my fingernails and I get rocks in my shoes. I pinch my fingers and get poked with rose-bush thorns. I get sunburnt and thirsty. Everything is heavier than it used to be......      My hair gets in my eyes, I think about other things I could be doing, opposed to wearing leather gloves with holes in them..... pull...

  I only like before and after pictures..... if they don't involve ME being embarrassed. My gardens have been neglected. I LOVE to garden, but I don't like to feel like I need to call out the National Guard for help. I like to keep up on things. I failed my gardens this summer.     Things got WAY out of hand...... we had a rainy, rainy, summer......so the weeds have been quite happy, and quite busy.       This is the second pair of gloves I had on today.  The first ones were pathetic. These are the ones that got blood on them.       I was outside from around 9 until 5? Yes, I took breaks. One pretty long one when Roy Rogers came on..... and ice cream was in my bowl.   I swept, tidied everything up.      I pulled weeds and carted them to the sidewalk pile. I put rabbits in better places.    And, I pinched my finger ...

How fun would it be to have a house painted the color of flowers in your yard?

My new see through phone. Not really. I take pictures on purpose so they can  be my home screen and lock screen. I would never use one that came with the phone. I don't download ZEDGE either. I make my own *ringers*. Not that I'm a fan of Johnny Cash....... but I sometimes wake up to him singing: "the best part of waking up, is Folger's in your cup!" This is my newest craft. I saw it on Pinterest....tried to pin it....our internet crashed, I went back and couldn't find it. So I had to just do it on my own.   I have some work to do....... I don't buy lots of seeds, but I did buy this white morning glory package from Lowe's. I stick seed packages in the cart while my husband buys glue and boards and electrical things. He says he sees me do it. He knows. The morning glory is on a plant no higher than "6 tall. I DID fix up the sunflower picture. I couldn't resist. The tree behin...

I am saving seeds from my flowers.......it's not that I won't have $5 next *seed buying time*, it's just FUN to save seeds.  I like to watch them while they're dying and drying.  In June you can stand by my front gardens and actually HEAR seeds snap-crackle-popping out of their shells.  Blue-bonnets can cast their seeds a yard away from themselves! If I have an especially pretty Larkspur, I mark the plant with yarn or twistie tie.  Once the flower dies and goes to seed, it's hard to remember which plant was pure white! These poppy seeds were just from a packet, but I'm saving them, too.  The little sunflowers come up on their own and are everywhere down here at this time of year. So far, this Larkspur gets the prize for being the most unusual color.  These seeds will surely go in a special envelope. The hollyhocks have been blooming for over a month.....and I am just now seeing how to get seeds from them.  They are all in a unif...
