Lydia's Saturday (by Lydia)

Me and my Dad went to the Wild Life Refuge in Brazoria, and we also went to Bryan Beach!! *SMILES* The Refuge is home to coyotes, hogs, (Yukk!!) I think bob cats, and hares/rabbits. We haven't seen and of them except hogs. I much would've rether seen a coyote or something... The ocean was SOOOOOO pretty! It was actully pretty calm! I got a few good pictures of the waves just before they rolled over..... Like this picture! This is a picture of a Reddish Egret, and two Cattle Egrets. One of the Cattle Egrets was immature. But they let me and my dad get pretty close to them. I got a picture of the Reddish Egret flying away, but it was blurry. This is a picture of a Brown Pelican. We saw the bird when it was fishing. It was realllllyyyy neat!!!! I got a few pictures of it diving in the water, but most of them where blurry.. That bird has a large wing spand! Even though it's not my favorite bird, ( The Painted Bunting is mine) it deffintly is very amazing. It was flying aroun

CRISS-CROSS-APRON

I think I can make a pattern for this.......it will fit sideways on a regular piece of fabric. I can make it longer, or wider, or shorter.

for SUZIE

it's cilantro out of my back yard yum.

considering where I was..........

this shows it is really cold out. I look at the flags and the steam? coming out of the chemical plant smokestacks to see which way the wind is blowing. It matters LOTS down here which the direction the wind is out of. Well, today it was out of the North and it is COLD. Cold to us is 55 and anything lower. If the wind is blowing, we can stand about 59, but that's about it. I decided today that I love our winters down here. We live where your seed catalogs say it is MILD, which is fine with me. We have nice springs too, they just don't last long enough. I love summer and the sun that makes my flowers grow. I like fall too, but it comes too late and is very fickle. I don't have any winter clothes to speak of, but that's fine. It might be 80 tomorrow and I'll forget all about the weather today.

I cleaned my washroom........

cause I had to.......there were some traces of mouse , so I had to go through all the cabinets . Sure enough. There were sucker sticks drug all over the place with the sucker gone off of the end.....well, now it's clean. It feels lots better in there. I like to clean when it's so cold out, cause it sure can get hot in the washroom. Not that I mind doing laundry, I LOVE to do laundry. I always have. Even cloth diapers. I liked cloth diapers. I just packed all the ones I have left in an old suitcase. I'm pretty sure I will never use them again, but some day, somebody might want them. The soap you see in the picture is for laundry uses. I scrape off little tidbits into the washer water. The pink ZOTE smells really good. Kind of *pink*.

Lydia on Monday

(lydia speaking) Hello again!!!!!!! I'm at my Uncle Roddie and Aunt Frankie's house in this picture. They had a beautiful swing in their yard. Here I am swinging on it. It was kinda windy that day. Well, today me and my Mom are going to the Martin Luther King's parade. I think it starts at 12:00..... I think??? I might also get to pet some horses too! If I do, I will deffinitly take pics of the horses! *SMILES* Well, it's cloudy and drear out today again. The tempachure is slowly rising, slowly, but surely. Have a great day ya'll! Lydia~

Help me find her husband.........

Her name is Millie, her husband is Willie. My sister and I had a salt and pepper set like this when we were little and we played and played with them. I found Millie at a thrift store a couple months back, but not with her husband. If anybody knows where he is, please let me know. There is a reward. She is about 5" tall and made out of plastic. sniff sniff

My old things..............

You can't see it, but the little basket holding the crochet thread is VERY old........it is like an old tin, only it is a basket. It has bunnies on it. This would be an old bread box. I love the old appliques they used to have on baby beds long long ago. In this bread box are pictures out of magazines that I think are pretty, but used to have no place for. Now if I see a picture of something I'd like to do.........in the bread box it goes.

Aunt Margie's Cake

gone, gone, gone.

Lydia's Post........Horses

This horse is Easy Money. My Uncle's horse. He's a lightish brown Quarter Horse. I really like to ride him. I also like to pet him! *SMILES* He is 18 or 19... I think. His muzzle is really soft. I can't wait to see him again! This horse HERE is Nubbins. She is a four or five year old gray mare. She's really pretty and nice. I think she is also a Quarter Horse. Her mane and tail have a little bit of yellowish in it. I miss her sooo much! I can't wait to see her again! These horses here are Nubbins, Lady Nyla, and Pocket Change. I got the priviledge of naming Lady Nyla. She's a reddish brown filly. I think she's two or three years old. She's is very pretty. She is soooo soft! I can't wait to see her again! The horse in that back is Pocket Change. She's the smallest of all the horses. She's really sweet though. She's shy. I can't wait to see them again! Have a great day everybody!

Lydia's Sugar Cookie Recipe

1 1/2 cups sugar 1/2 cup (1 stick) softened butter or margarine 1/2 cups shortening 2 eggs 2 3/4 cups Gold Medal all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons cream of tartar 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/4 teaspoon salt colored sugar * or candy sprinkles Heat oven to 400. Stir sugar, margarine, shortening and eggs in large bowl until mixed. Stir in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. Shape dough by rounded teaspoonfuls into balls. Roll balls in colored sugar or candies until coated. Put about two inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. ( make sure you put them two inches apart, or they'll stick together!!) Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until light golden and cracked on the top. Right away, take cookies off cookie sheet. Makes about 6 dozen cookies... MMMMMMMM Dee-wishes! They are REALLY good with milk! ;) I put sprinkles on my cookies. They are actually called, Rainbow Sprinklers!

more shadows............

a new ukulele

If anybody wants to correct my spelling, go ahead.........Lydia is quite a strummer. Her best song is You Are My Sunshine...............

Lydia's cookies.........

Lydia made some sugar cookies mainly all by herself on Wednesday. We have had a cheesy kid Betty Crocker cook book for years and have gotten the BEST recipes out of it. I think it was the one where you sent in some proof of purchase thing-ies and a dollar. It's right up there with the best thing I've ever spent a dollar on!

It took two days.

I wanted to get my sewing room cleaned up when it was nice out. It has been beautiful here and very good cleaning weather. There was a breeze coming in this window the whole time! I have had my sewing table up against a wall but decided to try to change things around so I could look out the window. Kimberly is going to fix up the flower beds! Some of my fabric..............and the old piece of wood with nails in it..........for my buttons and snaps and letters and pictures and tats and patterns......... Everytime I go to buy thread, I forget what colors I already have. I've taken pictures of what I do have, then look at it when I'm at the store....but that doesn't help, I've even called home and asked somebody to tell me what colors I DO have. Nothing helps. So, I usually have 5 shades of pink and NO brown . These are my tools. My neato pins and my little Chinese pin cushion.........my can tin full of bells, my SHARP scissors and the seam ripper I got in M
