Harvey August 2017

Friday, while Harvey was approaching the coast of Texas, I started to clean up my sewing room. *Somebody let it get messy.* The above picture is a huge old kitchen pantry from a sale.  It holds yarn, embroidery patterns, holiday fabric, sewing patters and crochet hooks.   The bird bag you see is the bag I take along in the car on long trips. I fix embroidery projects. I don't get car sick, so it's a fun thing to do while driving. It's better than crocheting because when I pull the thread up, I also look up. With crocheting, I never get to look up to see the country side. To the right is where I keep all my embroidery thread. I do have lots, but I do lots of embroidering. It's a low cost hobby and I love it. The top can is full of variegated thread. This is the table my sewing machine is on. It was formerly my Pastor and Wife's kitchen table. It's kind of special. The fabric on the left are hopeful aprons....

I keep adding things.....

If you open our front door closet, you will see a menu from Catfish O-Harlie's....a picture of a screen door and some Snoopy wrapping paper.  I like to see things, so I tape them to walls.  I restrain from doing it in every room of our house, but some get it with both barrels.  This is now Bunny's Room.  It used to be the Sewing Room, before that, it was the Office, before that, it was a porch.  This calendar has been up since, well, 2,009.  I wonder what kept me from turning it over to March.  Maybe because I liked the pictures of the chicks?  Millie was over the day I did the *wall*.  It is pretty random, but it feels sort of like a quilt.  Pictures of the kids, a stroller I love, Alisa all in pink, puppies in socks, a kitten in a milk bath, tulips, a snowy scene, a cottage, a craft I'd like to do some day, Holly Hobby, a verse, three little girls, Lydia in the *dress*, a tea-cup, an M card, my blood donation I.D. card tha...

Four Days

My husband left for four days to preach a revival in Humble, Texas, for Brother Reynolds. He left Sunday morning and got home Wednesday night, late. I sewed an apron...... and a shoe bag for Kimberly. I left the box of biscotti ON the cabinet, no worries about anybunny taking one.   Monday morning EARLY, Klarisa and I drove to San Marcos. Yes, I drove. Yes, we made it. No, nothing weird happened. We were looking for a wedding dress. We found one. All day long was fun except for about 10 minutes.   Ate lunch with David San Marcos, went to the gazebo where they will be wed, then went off shopping. Gave up on San Marcos, so we drove to Austin.  I also found out that Burlington Coat Factory doesn't just sell coats. Sounds like a coat store to me.... but what do I know?      We all said YES to the same dress. Woops. Actually, the store that we bought the dress, doesn't do the Y...

A Tale Of Two Bedrooms

"I have sometimes sat alone here of an evening,  listening, until I have made the echoes out to be  the echoes of all the footsteps  that are coming by and by into our lives."   “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.”     “A multitude of people and yet solitude.”       from the book *A Tale Of Two Cities* When we first moved in to this house over 20 years ago, the boys got the smaller room, the girls got the larger one. At that time, we only had two girls and two boys. How did we know that we would end up having more girls than boys? And that they would need the bigger room. The two rooms have been through big changes, but none as big as the ones lately. The *girl* room is now the Sleeping Room. The guest room. The room is ready, which means nothing will have to be DONE to get it ready when somebunny comes to see us. I called it the Sleeping Room, because I am ONL...

Sewing Room

You know how the book goes....if you give a mouse a cookie...... It happens more than you think, to real people. I bought an old kitchen cabinet to use in my sewing room, so I sold the dresser that I've been using for my *stuff*, then I had to clean the sewing room. (this is the topic of the post btw) With the money I made from the dresser, I bought a Lazy Boy recliner. Then I bought a couch to match the recliner. I sold the couch AND love-seat so I could get something to match the recliner and couch. So, we're looking at another rocker recliner. Green. I hope it matches the couch and recliner we do have.... so I can rest. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  So, the top picture shows a middle shelf in my newly fixed up sewing room.  Scissors, glue gun, and old clothespins from my Great Grandmother. My sister put mint oil on them, so they smell really good. The little box in the clothes...
