Brazos Bend in November

To us, it was cold.
51 and windy and cloudy.

Do you spy a critter in the top picture?

During the day, there were all levels of
being cold.  What you did, determined
how cold you were.
I found that sitting at the picnic table talking
about how cold I was,
didn't help a bit.

I'm pretty sure,
James Kelzie stayed warm
by eating.

Good old Brazos Bend and the swamps.

Right below, do you see the water birds
mixed in with the swampy plants?

The girls took a walk, and this is what we saw.

Segregated water ducks.

Jessica and I did a taste test.
Fanta won.
No doubt.
It had more zing.

Here's James with the first of many roasted marshmallows.
I stopped counting how many S'mores he ate.

Hannah likes marshmallows......

Somebody told me there was a beautiful spider in this tree.
Yellow, black, shiny.
I couldn't see a spider.
Can you?

Just like the church camp-outs from many years ago....
things are real neat and tidy at the beginning,
then it gets like this.

I loved spending the day with my people.
I walked and talked,
sat and visited.

The reservations were made in July, for the 15th of November.
Kind of hard to know what the weather will be.

cold
freezy
drizzle
dripping humidity
hot hot hot
lukewarm
windy
warm and humid
rain and wind
sparkly day in the 60's
cold front blow in
sunny then rain

Washers,
where close, counts.....

Rainy and drippy the whole way home.
When we got out of the car,
it was like a whole different world.
It was at least 10? degrees warmer in Freeport,
than Brazos Bend.
Just one hour away.
And no wind.

My Favorite Child

I wish I had all the pictures I wanted, to go with this blog post........because I know a *picture paints a thousand words*, but for a large part of our family's life, old fashion cameras and old fashion pictures were being used.  So, many of the pictures that would help paint this post are somewhere in boxes and books.  It would take a month of Sundays to find them all so  I will just have to count on your imagination and my memory! FAVORITE: most liked, preferred above all others Sara, you were my favorite.  You were our first baby and we were so excited for you.  Your hair was perfect for me to learn how to braid and you always were very still for me.  You were the first little girl I got to dress up and put lacy socks on.  You were such a fun little girl to read to.  You memorized the books we had and it was a big part of our day to read with each other.  *where is the bear when the wind blows cold?*.    You have always been interested in the *family tree*, dates, p
